hi..was wondering if anyone has taken this and if it helps with depression or not? ..ive been taking it a little over a week and my depression hasn't lifted even a bit..i know they're supposed to take time to work, but with most SSRIs when im starting them, my depression lifts right away, within an hour or 2 ..i just feel so so low and this isnt working, my dr says wait for 3 months ..but i feel so bad im just so low i feel like hurting myself coz i dont know how else to get rid of how bad i feel ..is it supposed to take this long? i just feel HORRIBLE right now ..my depressions at its peak, i know because whenever this happens my eyes and head start 'burning' ..its happening now and i just feel so horrible ..will it go away on geodon has it worked for anyone else ..i feel so bad just need some hope or something im a bit afraid of myself

Contact your doc to let them know what's going on. If you have a T or counselor, I would contact them as well to talk to them in the interim too.

Some meds do not work as quickly as others do and take time to get into your system, sometimes weeks, which I know isn't encouraging right now but realistic. It also could explain why you haven't noticed a difference. It also could be the case that it is not working, which is always the gamble with a new med. Call the doc. However, I do remember way back when when I started it, it took some time before I felt positive affects but I also am taking it for things other than depression alone.

Hang in there!!!! And make that call. It really will be ok. You are not alone. Sending hugs in the meantime.

Personally not a fan of Geodon - I had horrible side effects from it. If you feel that awfull you should definitely call someone.

Thanks for the replies. i got in touch with my psychiatrist who said to stay on it at least another week and take xanax if things get very bad in the meantime like they did the other day.
Fresia- im taking it for something else too, not depression. but my psychiatrist said it would target the depression too. its been almost 2 weeks and it hasnt even begun. i know its slow-acting but i should've felt at least SOME difference by now right.
