Just wondering if anyone could share their experiences with withdrawal from this drug.
The list of side effects more than I care to expose myself to for much longer (weight gain, high blood pressure, and photo-sensitivity). I will be discussing this with my Psychiatrist as well, next week. I'd just like to know what to expect. Thanks. |

I've never tried to come off it completely, but a couple of months ago I tried to lower my dose because I don't like the side effects, for me the big one is flattenned affect. I went from 3 mg down to 2.5 mg. I was a bit dizzy and felt a bit drunk for a few days, and then was fine at the lower dose. Unfortunately the lower dose didn't work for me, and my mood tanked, so I had to go back up to the 3 mg. Again when I increased the dose I had dizziness and felt a bit drunk.
If you feel Respiridone is a bad choice for you then by all means discuss it with your psychiatrist, just be warned that weight gain is a side effect of almost all the A-typical anti-psychotics. If weight gain is a concern, avoid Zyprexa / Olanzepine like the plague. From what I've heard everyone gains a lot of weight on it, and there's a high incidence of developing type 2 diabetes. There's actually a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer over the development of type 2 diabetes. --splitimage |
