I was taking 20 mgs of Prozac and 0.5 mgs of Klonopin every night to deal with my anxiety, depression and eating issues. I was not really showing any improvement and when I went back to my doctor she upd my prozac dose to 40mg, and added 150 MG of Wellbutrin xl because I had such low energy (my klonopin was kept the same)

I've been on this for about 3 days and I feel like a mess. I used to sleep around 10 hours a night and now I'm sleeping around 4 hours a night. I feel very tired, I don't feel motivated or energized to clean or go running or do work that needs to get done but I cannot sleep and I can't stop moving, my legs and hands are twitching, I can't stop fidgeting, I feel like there is so much energy in my body that isn't getting to my brain. (if that makes any sense at all) I also have had NO appetite and haven't eaten at all in the past 2 days (This is bad because part of the reason I am taking the medicine is because I used to be anorexic and now struggle with laxative abuse and I'm worried I will become too dependent on the pillls to lose weight.)

Honestly, I really can't deal with these side effects. Has anyone else experienced this? do they go away? Any advice wuld be helpful.

I would call your doc immediately. Some SSRI's should not be mixed together as they can lead to Seretonin Syndrome. Basically your body gets too much seretonin and it can cause some of the symptoms you are describing. I have had Seretonin Syndrome on more than one occassion and it was no fun. Please call your doc and let him/her know what is going on. You can do a drug interaction search on the net to find out more. Good luck.

Hopefully you've already contacted your doctor, but if not, check this out:

It happened to me on Prozac and I ended up in the hospital for eight days.

Good luck!

Talking to pdoc is good but you have not given the new meds a chance yet. I do agree you should report these symptoms. You are paying him...I was on prozac for ten years before it finally quit working. It was good for me and worked for ten years!! That is saying something. I am now on Effexor XR and have been on it another ten. It shows no sigh of not working. I guess re: the meds I have been extremely lucky as every med tried worked for me.
Hope you are feeling better!
Hugs;
Dee

Wellbutrin made it very hard for me to sleep. I got very quitchy and restless; it didn't go away untill I stopped the Wellbutrin.

Are you taking the generic or the namebrand? Wellbutrin is one of those meds that has a massively inferior generic.

I had very similar initial symptoms on Wellbutrin. They calmed down after a few days. I think they were at their worst at about 3 days. So you may be experiencing something similar. Definitely call your pdoc for advice. I settled down on the med and then later when we increased the dose, I went through similar symptoms, though shorter lived. I have been on Wellbutrin now for a couple of years and am doing well on it.

There are at least half a dozen companies that make generic Wellbutrin and I believe only 1 of them has had problems and made a generic that does not work well. So don't rule out generics just because of this one company, because generics can save you a lot of money. My prescriber has written into my Buproprion prescription that generics are allowed except from this one company.

Hi there,

I'm on Zoloft and more recently Abilify (Epilim didn't work for me) and having symptoms of Akathisia for which my doctor has prescribed Artane. Does anyone else have experience with alternative therapy or nutritional supplements to counter the restlessness. It's driving me crazy!

My GP put me on Welbutrin when he thought we were just dealing with depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Taking that alone pushed me into a hard hyper mania episode. But I'm told if you are taking mood stabilizers with it then it's not bad.
