Does anxiety come up as a side effect of an SSRI sometimes (within the first 2 weeks) and then go away as your body gets used to the med? I thought I had remembered the doc saying this...

Thanks Cnytroxy1973...
Really? Then it went away? I know we all react differently, but I was hoping this was the case. (I thought I had heard that sort of thing happens sometimes).

This has been my experience definitely. The start up on Prozac was pretty rough. I was also very very sensitive to coffee. It'll level off though.

![]() ps. OMG I love coffee. I don't drink too much of it (a small cup in the morning) but I don't know if I can really give it up. It is certainly my drug of choice... I may have to go the decaf route though...

Yes, I agree, anxiety can be a side effect of starting a new AD. I've had it happen to me. It has usually gone away in a few weeks.

I've not experienced this but I know that it can happen. Some ADs are more likely to trigger anxiety than others. There are few ADs that are prescribed specifically to control anxiety (like Anafranil).
