hi there, i've been having 2+ months of nausea and throwing up in the mornings after having stopped wellbutrin and then zoloft. combined, i was taking these 2 meds for 10 weeks. i noticed the nausea started about the 7th or 8th week of taking wellbutrin.

has anyone had nausea that lasted this long after stopping antidepressants? by the way, i'm still on medication: remeron, abilify, and klonopin (never had nausea problems with these). i just need some relief. it's been going on too long. i've taken compazine and promethazine anti-nausea meds w/o relief, too. my doc thought it was because of withdrawal. and now i don't have medical insurance so it'll be awhile until i see a GP doc. i see my pdoc on tuesday, though at the low-income mental health clinic.

I know some SSRNs are really a bear to get off of--Effexor is the mega-worst--but everybody is different and it can take quite a long time for the after effects to wear off for some people. Here's a link on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSRI_di...ation_syndrome

Most people taper off antidepressants slowly, even if other drugs are being taken in their place, in order to slow the effects of rapid withdrawal.

I'm on high dose Effexor. I missed one dose this morning and by 1:00 in the afternoon I was nauseous and dizzy.

Are you sure it's med related? Could you be pregnant? Forgive me for throwing that out there if you are in your 50s or male or something.

Good luck! For sure see if you can get some relief when you see your pdoc.

I just quit taking Wellbutrin and Zoloft one week ago . I cut back on my Zoloft slowly over the last month and then went completely off both one week ago. I have had a little dizziness and nausea but I have been a little sick so that might be why. My PDOC told me to monitor myself for 4-6 weeks and go back to see him if I am having problems at any time.

It may be coincidental.
No matter what you think might be the cause, nausea with vomiting going on this long warrants a visit to your medical doctor.

When I quit meds cold turkey, I coincidentally developed pancreas issues at the same time and I thought my symptoms were from stopping meds, but that wasn't the case.

I hope you feel better soon.

my Pdoc gave me prilosec and so far it's helped the vomiting a little, but i'm still gagging. anwyways, just wanted to post that update. so maybe my problem has to do with stomach acid or something. it's just tiring having to throw up like this...

I hope you will also see a medical doctor for an evaluation of your nausea and vomiting.

i saw a medical doctor on dec 1st and he prescribed me nexium. i'm not sure if it's really working or not as it's been a couple of days. anyways, besides this he wants to do an abdominal ultrasound to check for things like gallstones. and he also wants me to see a GI doctor and do more blood, stool tests. well, will update u guys on my morning sickness later....ugh. it's now been about 3 months of throwing up

I'm so glad you are seeing a doctor for this. Please do let us know what you find out from the tests. Hang in there.

hey everyone i got my test results back for blood and stool, but nothing showed up as irregular. the only thing that was suspect was i have too much iron in my blood, so i'm going to see a hematologist for this. so, i have to endure my nausea some more until i get an abdominal ultrasound later this month. i don't get to see a GI doctor until march which sucks. the reason why i have to wait so long is because i'm in the county medical insurance system. anyways, just an update again on my morning sickness which stilll carries on... i think my parents may have enough money for me to see a GI doctor earlier, but i haven't asked them yet and i don't want to carrry on with this nausea. it's making my depression worse. thanks for reading. it's now probably been like 3.5 months of vomiting every morning by now.

Do you have any other GI symptoms?
Are your symptoms only in the morning?

Remeron is the only one that does not have the possible side effect of nausea; it could be that wellbutrin teamed up with the abilify or klonopin and "taught" it nausea was okay :-) and now turning off the nausea isn't so easy. Remeron actually combats nausea but with the other two as possibilities and welbutrin almost a given, who knows? I would fall back, do a controlled get off everything and regroup?

In England you would get 1 AD an mabye a benzo for a couple of weeks for start up troubles, then they ramp up the ad till your level . If you dont ,you start a new a d all over again, COMBO,S are rare in england for depression, useually go through all ssri,s first for straight taper , then snri,s. You get enough side effect on one a d never mind more.

Nausea is a symptom of Hemochromatosis. Do they know the reason you have too much iron? Some people donate blood, or have phlebotomy procedures to lower the iron level. Wondering if your doctor suggested either of those?
Or maybe the cause is being sought at this point, with the blood test, so those suggestions weren't discussed.
