Hi,

I've been taking 300mg of Lamictal for over three months now, with mostly good effects (I take it for bipolar). However, sometimes it seems like the higher dose is making me more vulnerable to depression -- without taking Adderall, I become lethargic, uninterested in things, and unmotivated. This is how I felt before taking adderall (and while on lamictal) so it's not like I'm developing some kind of dependence and withdrawal from the adderall (I stopped it for the month of december, and now am on one-third of the dose I was on).

I know that this time of year is usually bad for depression, but I live in the south, and it has been 70-80 degrees and sunny most of the winter. AND I work out all of the time.

I just feel like the effect of Lamictal is wearing down, like I'm building up a tolerance (which is not possible, right?). Has anybody else had these sorts of problems with lamictal?

I can not say,for I do not know, but I've been on Lamictal for about 3 yrs., my dosage has remained at 200mgs per day.
It was great, after awhile, I thought I may have needed an increase, but it was the stuff going on in 3d, not the med thing, I found out, after increase 25mgs.extra I got edgey, wound up, and felt uptight. I stopped the extra 25mg.,and stayed with my usual dosa, 200mgs.
Pdoc didn't mind cause him and I were in agreement to give this a try, he knows that I would and do, report to him on
any mood changes.
After time, with his approval, things were good(stable) so I had gone down to 150mgs after 3 months I started to feel depression was creeping up on me, but then again things in my 3d world and sometimes still, are very hard to deal with
so it was hard to seperate the cause, but I agreed to return to my usual dosage, 200mgs. and things for what they can be, due to the RL, in spite is still good(stable) for me.
I'd suggest you talk with the prescribing doc on this, just to determine what is happening, it may not be about you needing more Lamictal, but maybe something else combined, or maybe even a drop in your present dosage of Lamictal.
I wish you luck with this, and if you wish, update us on how you made out. 300mg Lamictal
