I've replied to other threads here about Neurontin. I loved Neurontin. It helped me a lot and I loved that it helped me get to sleep and stay asleep. There is no morning 'hangover' effect. Loved it! It is the only med I would consider taking again.

I've been on Neurontin for about four months. It has been a great med for me; I SI when angry or frustrated, and the neurontin has helped me really be able to slow down and not react so quickly. A couple of things: 1)I have had a much more positive effect from the name brand vers generic, though it is expensive and my insurance won't touch a brand name, but Pfizer has a program that can help with cost. 2) The initial side effects were really brutal for me: tired like you would not believe, felt like I was in a fog, couldn't think, and had the serious munchies. Yet, they all went away after about 14 days. 3) for me it does cause some cognitive slowing, so I've had to balance out that side effect with the highest dose I can tolerate. Best to you.

If I take too much Neurontin (more than 900mg, even though my pdoc said I could take 1200mg and I sometimes do) I get a hangover effect. Just my experience.

I'm on Neurontin 800ml/day for Migranes. However, I have gained 15lbs
since I started taking it and I cant attribute it to anything else. So I want to get off of it as soon as I can. It has worked for my migranes though and I dont seem to have any other side effects. But I cant STAND being fat.

Although some effect of Neurontin seems to have contributed to your weight gain, it has helped you too. It might be more helpful to look at your weight gain and how it happened that your food intake or calorie intake increased - that is something you can change without having to change the medication that's helping you. Maybe the weight gain is about the time of year - October through December is a common time for weight gain due to diet changes and decreases in activities - or something like that, something that could be changed separately so you can keep feeling better from the Neurontin. I hope you will talk to your doctor about your weight gain concern ![]() |

sweepy if you've just begun taking neurontin and also take it during the day it can have a sedative effect. happened to me. pdoc allowed me to take it at night-900 mgs. i don't have the racing thoughts during my sleep anymore. thank goodness.
re weight gain. when i complained to pdoc he asked, would you rather stay petite and sad or weight gain and be happier? i stopped complaining ![]()
