So my pdoc just started me on Trileptal. Does anyone have experience with this med? She is having me start slow with it taking 150 mg for 4 days, 300 mg for 7 days, 600 mg for 7 days, and 900 mg from then on. Any input would be great!

Yep, been a Trileptal recepient. I have no complaints, as I recall. I was taken off of it and put on the stronger drug Tegretol simply because I'm also being treated for atypical trigimineal neuralgia as well as Bipolar, and the Trileptal wasn't working for it.

My daughter age 17 takes this medicine for bipolar. She has less complaints about it than the other mood stabilizers she's tried, but it does make her sleepy. She did not like seroquel or geodon.

So after being on trileptal for 10 days I was doing horrible. I was having major insomnia. Getting about 2 hours of sleep a night (no it was not a manic/hypomanic episode) I called my pdoc and what does she do? She told me to take 1200 mg of this med. Is the big dose of this med or is this just therapeutic dosage?
