I have broken out with a rash all over my body and it is after my psych raised my lamictal from 100 mg to 150 mg. Has anyone ever had a rash from lamictal? What was it like for you and did you have to stop taking the lamictal all together? I never had a side effect like this before.

You need to call your pdoc immediately and get his opinion on this.

ditto what Chris said - the lamictal rash can be pretty dangerous.

I got it after a week, so I don't know about immediately stopping it after being on it for a while. The on call dr. told me to take benedryl asap and to stop taking it immediately. I saw my dr. the next day to further figure out what to do.

Steven Johnson's Syndrome- very serious and potentially very deadly. Seek emergency room immediately. You should NEVER go up or down on Lamictal too fast. Even the dosage you speak of is too fast. Get help now and do not wait until tomorrow!

This was a few days ago, I hope all is well and your rash was not "the rash." I'm on lamotrigine too. I'm worried that you weren't warned about it. My doctor seemed more concerned about the rash than my mood at the time and he was always bothering me about my moods! The pharmacy warned me too.

Hoping you are ok and were able to get in touch with the doc or the ER for treatment.

I developed the rash too on it on a higher dose and thankfully once tapered back down, it went away. I am hoping this for you as well.

Thinking about you and sending well wishes your way.

I am ok. The rash was awful and lasted a while but it turned out to be from an antibiotic I was on and the doctor is putting me back in the lamictal. Thanks for your concern.

Actually, with Lamictal, the symptoms can come in opposite order. Sometimes the rash doesn't come first. Sometimes it starts with fevers, body aches, headaches, sore throat and nausea.

Could be good to know.

Yes. I experienced the rash within a 24 to 48 hour period.

You can also get a 'benign' rash (not SJS) with Lamictal (actually with any of the anti-convulsants). I believe up to 10% of people who take lamictal get some kind of rash, but only something like 0.1% get SJS. Which is still a lot, considering you can die from SJS.

The risk of SJS is one of the main reasons my p-doc doesn't want to try me on lamictal. I've had rashes on other medications, which increases my chance of having a rash (and SJS) on lamictal.

True. All rash isn't THE rash.

Man, I miss that med.
