I love this drug. I started taking it about 2 weeks ago and the stupidity factor is gone. I am able to retain stuff in school and can remember simple things now. I am not sleeping all day anymore and have motivation to finish things I've started. I started out at 20mg and went up to 40mg this week. It sedates me at night so I am able to get a good 8 hours of sleep and wake up refreshed instead of hung over. I need to remember to tell my pdoc how awesome this drug is.

Hey, no, it's not as simple as that! If Cymbalta works for you, that's a great thing, and it does work for many people. In fact, I've never heard that 30% number before, and have done a lot of research on this drug since starting it over a year ago for treatment resistant depression. And everyone I've been in touch with who has tried it has said that they've had some improvement on it, even if it's not bringing about total remission for them.

Give it a good, honest try, and see what it does for you. Personally, although I suspect it of weight gain, I've found it to be one of the most tolerable drugs I've tried -- and that's out of many, many different drugs of different classes.

Good luck.

Since being on cymbalta I have gained about 23 pounds. I am already heavy to begin with.
So, maybe I should reevaluate taking it.

I have been on Cymbalta for about a yr now. Since I have clinical depression, it's the only med I have taken that I can tolerate and that works for me. Unfortunately I can not afford it even with prescription coverage which doesn't cover it anyway. I was on a free program until I had to put my daughter on it to. They said I make too much money. Then of course I lost my job 2 weeks ago,am out of med and feeling like its the end of the world. I can definitely tell that I need it. Any suggestions?

Hey -- relax. That 30% is pretty much true for ALL anti-depressants. Yep, that's the statistic that gets thrown around all the time -- all ADs work for about 30% of the people who try them. Some other drug usually works for the rest of the people out there.

So, Cymbalta has as much chance of working for you as any AD.

Hope that helps.
