Has anyone had diarrhea as a side effect of wellbutrin? I started this med about a month or so ago and have had diarrhea about that long that seems to be getting worse. It could be my nerves, though. Not sure. I *really* don't want to go to the doc or tell the pdoc about it.

Just wanted to find out if anyone else has had this issue with it and maybe it will go away. Oh, I did start trazodone as well, so it could be that too.
Thanks for this!

I was on Wellbutrin for twelve years, went off it for a year and now am back on. I've always had digestive issues (even had my colon removed) so I can't say for sure. I did look up side effects on drugs.com and the only digestive issue seems to be constipation. I hope someone else can chime in with their experiences...

what dose? i've been on 150mg for only like a month and a half... it hasn't done sh**, and that includes side effects (perhaps small 'hits' of anxiety once in awhile? Saying I've been through worse is like the understatement of the century though...)... sorry... pun sincerely was not intended.

but yeah I asked my doc if I can try it... because of this whole anhedonia/no motivation/meth-addict-esque brain I have.... (it's like I don't have any dopamine activity, I swear...) lol

that probably doesn't help much, haha, but the other thing I'm wondering, do you take VitC supplements by any chance? I took too many once and had diarrhea, so I'm wondering if that + wellbutrin might be doing something weird....

and also, in a way it makes sense, it works like stimulants (like coffee and the adhd ones, are what I'm thinking of specifically), which I'm pretty sure both can have that side effect...

Mmmm...that's interesting. I'm on 150 mg. I have so much trouble telling what meds are doing to me and whether they are helping or not. I know I've gone way downhill the past month, but I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence or the meds. Pdoc started it to give me energy and get me off of Methylin ER. What has gone on with you, RaceAM since you have been on it?

No, I don't take Vit C. I have been drinking more coffee lately, though. And I drink it in the morning when the diarrhea is worse. So maybe that is it.

I deliberately do not look up side effects of drugs that I'm taking because I'm afraid I'll start thinking I have all of them. It's easier to just ask the Pdoc about anything specific that's concerning me and I don't have to worry about this big list of things.

Thanks so much Suki and RaceAgainstMyself for your responses.

I took Wellbutrin XL for three days, and experienced diarrhea.

For diarrhea, you can you try home remedy for diarrhea. Home remedy for diarrhea usually include natural treatment, herbal, vitamins and minerals. Try drinking carrot soup or juice. This treatment is especially effective, and usually recommended, for infants (pureed carrots are common for infants too

I have the same problem! I found this thread by Googling "Wellbutrin and diarrhea". Thank you! I am a little confused as to why because everything I've read notes constipation as a side effect. Someone tell me why!

It could be the coffee. I get diarrhea when I drink coffee but never had a problem with it with Wellbutrin. When I get constipated I drink coffee and voila! all is cured!!
