Hi Cam,
How are things?? Here I go again with a drug question. . . Have you heard of Provigil (modafinil) ? It was on our news last week claiming it just came out and doctors were using it for sleep apnea, sleep/wake cycle adjustment, and adult adhd, is this milder of stimulant than ritalin? Is it something that may be used by people taking maintenance doses of lithium (900mg)? Years ago my brother's doctor would give him low doses of ritalin when he'd get real down but had to stop cause it would trigger a manic behavior. I understand that is why doctors are careful with stimulants and bipolar also some antidepressants I understand can have this same effect. I see my doctor in 2 weeks and I am doing okay but I am still lethargic, putting off things I even enjoy doing! I hate when this happens I just do not have any "oomph" and I find myself daydreaming even more than when I took lithium, I really wonder if it is my ADD that I was diagnosed also, is where I need that kind of med. and not the lithium?? I was never "manic" (violent) or reckless, never ran up charge accts., never promiscous, I had only had had suicidal plans at the time that I found out about "hubby's" affair(s) is that a reason a person should be labeled "bipolar"?? Oh hell I should not be doing this to you, you got your own problems sorry I got carried away but sometimes I feel that an injustice had been done to me . . . The Snail Lady
Take care,
"darkeyes"

Darkeyes - I have not seen Provigil™ used clinically, yet. I have heard of mixed reviews with it's use. It is supposed to have a low risk of dependence associated with it, but so did Valium™ when it was introduced. I'm sorry, the drug is too new to me to give any definitive information. It should work for anergia (ie. lack of energy), but I am not sure if docs are writing for it, as of yet.
