Has anyone participated in studies for new schizophrenic medications? I am considering a clinical trial, so if you have every participated, I would love to hear your experience.

Just curious....is it a new drug altogether? Or a new indication for an old drug? What's the drug? And is it a phase I, II, or III trial?

I'm part of a 4 year clinical trial, they paid you like 300-500$ for taking the drugs for a 3 week study. The clinic provided me with amazing help and support. You're going to feel like a lab rat though. If you want me to share more info just reply.

Hi - Thank you both for the feedback. Yes, I would really appreciate if you could share more info about your experience in the clinical trial. The trial I am considering is a Phase III trial for a product that is not on the market yet. The trial is for a new drug that is not on the market yet. It's in a new class and does not have a name yet that I know of.

The clinical trial I'm part of is for people who are at risk for psychosis. I'm involved with a research clinic for 4 years, your study might be different from mines, but I'll share what I experience.
I would try drugs that aren't available for the public like you mentioned. In my trial they don't tell you tell if you're receiving the drug or not it's a 50/50 chance you will get the drug. You either get placebo or the drug, they do it like this for you won't lie and for you could provide the best results. They would make me take a MRI scan before and after the study to see if the drug did something. They paid me 350-500$ for each study, but money shouldn't be the reason to do the study. The reason I did is because I'm desperate to fix my derealization and the drugs their testing can help you with what you have. I also do research like taking computer test, math test and answering weird questions. The upside to trying the trial is that you are constantly being offered drugs that helped to try fix your problem you're dealing with. The clinic I'm in are the biggest support I have. You mentioned schizophrenic maybe a new drug can really help with your problem so I would try it if I were you. The downside to do doing these clinical trials is your going feel like a lab rat who's being used and being paid for being mentally ill it can get overwhelming. I hope I helped and I think you should give it a try. |
