There are a lot of topics in here about this medication. If you go a few pages back you should find a lot of info.

I did pretty well on 150, but the doc insisted it wasn't a therapeutic dose and made me go up to 300. I couldn't tolerate the side effects and had to stop it.

No bad sides for me...except I quit smoking! It didn't really do me a lot of good, even though i took it for about 5 years. I was on 450 a day. I stopped at the direction of my pdoc, didn't like AD's for bipolar. I had a big improvement then, so I guess she was right in my case.

Wellbutrin SR was added to my other meds to pull me out of a major depressive episode. I was put on 300 mg a day and thought I was going to die from the side effects.

Someone else on this forum was also put on this med about the same time and we were both complaining about the side effects, but the other person said this med isn't like anything we've taken before - it's not an SSRI, it's in a class by itself and our brains had to get used to it.

It took about a solid month. For me, I had hand tremors, I knew what I wanted to say but couldn't get it out of my mouth. My balance was off. Then all those symptoms faded away.

Now that I'm well again, my pdoc is weaning me off. NOW he has me on 150 mg of the Wellbutrin XL (time-released). For the last two weeks I went through similar side effects from when I went on it. Now they're gone as well and I feel great!

So, my experience is the side effects are hard at first, but if you stay with it (provided it's the right med for you), it does help.

Good luck with that...and will be happy to talk with you in pm if you would like.

Aza, I think we were on it at the same time.

I was having vision problems. I'd turn my head to look at something, but my eyes lagged behind, so I'd feel motion sickness. I was shaky and highly irritable and couldn't sleep. One day I almost hit a man on the sidewalk as I was pulling out of the bank parking lot. I gave it almost two months and they didn't go away. I think T finally took me seriously about the med when I had a total breakdown in his office. Sheesh.

You know, later in the day after I wrote my post I remembered it was the two of us who went on it the same time. Since I was on work disability at the time and didn't have to function very much, I gutted it out and finally was ok, but I just didn't "feel right" on having that med for some reason.

I'll never go on it again, that's for sure.

P.S. I'm over the withdrawals from 300 mg Wellbutron SR down to 150 mg Wellbutron XL. Since that pill can't be broken in two, I guess the next step will be taking Wellbutron out all together!!! Yaaaaa.

Next we'll be weaning off Depakote in favor of Lamictal.
