Hi guys,
I've been on Seroquel for about 3 months now, taking 200mg of XR at bedtime. Well, my symptoms have been a bit uncontrolled lately, so I talked to my pdoc, and he's switching me to 300mg of the generic, regular release. How different are they and what should I expect? |

Regular seroquel will hit you faster and harder than the xr version. With xr, I could take it several hours before I wanted to go to sleep and be fine. With regular, take it shortly before you want to sleep because it will hit you generally within about a half hour-ish.

I was on XR for a really short period of time and I didn't notice much of a difference between the two. I was also put on quite a bit more of the regular though, since we were ramping it up anyway.
They shouldn't be too different, just make sure you pay extra attention to your reactions the first few weeks. |

I'm starting it tonight, so we'll see how it goes. Thankfully I'm on break right now, and there's nothing I have to do until Tuesday, so if it completely knocks me out or makes me feel sick or anything, I can just do nothing...

Well, it completely knocked me on my butt...I slept for about 12 hours, and I feel like I could sleep even more. But other than being exhausted, no side effects which is good.

regular seroquel will have you sleeping 18 hours a day forever if you let it. having a disciplined way to get up in the morning as a routine is needed.

Today is better. I feel like I can stay up now, and I woke up an hour earlier than I did yesterday. I think my body just needs a couple of days to adjust.

Yeah, you should adjust within a few days to a week. If you're still like, feeling knocked out daily from it time to talk to your doctor, but I think some adjustment is normal I certainly had it. I get really exhausted when I don't take it now because it puts a lid on my symptoms.

I'm fine with it now. It was just the first couple of days that were hard.
