I just started taking Gralise, which is Gabapentin, for my back on Wed. So far it's made me sooo sleepy. The main issue I have with it is that I think it's messing with my moods. I've been so emotional the past 2 days, and nothing has really changed. I was doing fine, until now. I read that this med can be used to treat Bioplar as a mood stabilizer. I think it's just throwing off all my other meds. I currently take Geodon, Lamictal, Tegretol, Provigil, and Ativan. My back has been actually feeling better, so the mood thing, and being tired all the time is pissing me off. Even the Provigil isn't helping with the tiredness. I'm thinking about asking my pdoc on Monday if he can up the Provigil.
Sometimes I really hate meds. |

I took gabapentin briefly at one point. It was not good for me at all; my moods couldn't move at all! The only thing I could feel was that unfeeling flatness.
I don't understand why you would be taking it along with Lamictal. They're both the same kind of medication, an anti-convulsant with mood stabilizing properties. Maybe you're just getting overloaded by all the medications; six is not a low number. ![]() |

Moreta, keep in touch with your pdoc about your symptoms on the new medication. All of this information is really important to him/her in making prescribing decisions. New meds often make a person sleepy the first few days, so maybe your tiredness will decrease shortly. Keep in touch w/your doc! Good luck. it's day 5 and i'm not that sleepy. I went to my pdoc today, and told him about it, so he raised my Provigil to 400 mg. woohoo. I swear I have the best pdoc ever. My pain level is around a 5, my upper back is starting to hurt though, so I"m sure it will get up to a 7. My mom is on gabapentin for her back and she said it took about 2 weeks to start working, so I guess I'll keep taking it. The thing that sucks though is that the freakin copay is $45 a month....gonna be hard to make when my temp assignment runs out.

It's also possible that you are having a paradoxal reaction to it. I get those with alot of the things I've taken, every type of medicine.
