Cam: I am not sure if you can answer this one, but here it is. I took a full dose of a drug called lupron depot about 2 wks ago. It is taken to suppress your reproductive system in preparation for an upcoming ivf cycle. I have been feeling increasingly depressed and anxious and think it could be related to this drug. I am currently not taking anything else (except xanax at night, but that should only help these symptoms). I don't want to call my dr's office and tell them because I am not sure that would be a good thing (I don't want them to cancel the cycle). Do you know if this drug can do this? I feel really lightheaded due to the stress, my hands are shaking and I am trying to figure out how to deal with this. I do have a lot of other stressors right now, but I am thinking this drug is artificially making everything worse. On the way to work, I was thinking how I wish I was in an accident so I would not have to deal with anything right now. Your help is appreciated.

Kitty - Those are fairly common side effects of Lupron™ (leuprolide). Depressive symptoms and recurrence of depression occur very commonly (approx. 40%) when using this drug. It would be well worth mentioning the depression to your doc. Perhaps he can adjust the dose downward a bit.
I am not sure how the repro docs use Lupron, and what their next step would be. - Cam <font color=orange>"Sometimes you may be shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right" - Robert Hunter</font color=orange> ![]() |
