Ill be tapering off 160mg of geodon and starting on Seroquel XR. Does the XR make you sleep less than original Seroquel? Original seroquel and geodon knock me for 11 hours a night. Im hoping that it works on my symptoms since geodon failed miserably.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

You get sleepy less quickly than with regular seroquel. Regular seroquel hits you like a brick; seroquel xr gives you a few hours as it gradually kicks in. I much prefer the xr version. I took it about 3 hours before I headed for bed and found it gave me a fairly normal length of sleep at night.

Hey Chris, were you sleeping more than 8 hours on it?

No, I was able to sleep a typical 8 hour night and get up and work the next day.

how much regular seroquel (milligrams) do you take for sleep and racing thoughts. do you ever combine with anything or does regular seroquel work on its own. i take either 1/4 or 1/2 of a .25mg. reg. seroquel which works most of the time but fear if i take any more that i'll gain weight.

I haven't taken seroquel in quite awhile, so I'm going on memory here. The regular I think I took 50 mg. The XR version I took 300 I believe. Weight gain is certainly an issue with seroquel.

Seroquel XR doesn't hit you as hard as regular Seroquel. With XR, I could stay up for hours after taking it, and with the regular, I'm out within an hour and a half, even if I'm trying really hard to stay awake.
