I know that in some people effexor can cause fast or uneven heart rate. I would really be talking to your doctor about the side-effects and the way you are feeling as soon as you can.

I really think effexor had the most and worst side effects for me. During the first few weeks I definitely had a huge spike in physical anxiety symptoms -- increased heart rate, dizziness, that sort of stuff.

The drug also has the ability to dehydrate you big time. So maybe try and chug as much water as you can and see if it helps with the racing heart and feeling weird (I experience these when I am dehydrated.)

Effexor can be a great and a bad drug. Don't let the side effects/talk of side effects scare you away but definitely keep track of what you're feeling.

I took Effexor for 2 years and experienced several side effects:
1. Loss of libido
2. Excessive sweating
3. Constipation
4. Loss of emotions in general.
I had taken it when I was younger and didn't experience the same effects but I think my body chemistry changed after the birth of my daughter.
I now take sertraline which seems to have little to no effects other than a lower libido than normal but still better than it was on the Effexor!
