Keep in mind that all medicines have LOTS of possible side effects. It is the manufacturers responsibility to list every single case of illness that study participants suffered while they were on the medication/s.

Doctors will do regular tests if there is a reasonable possibility that these side effects may pop up during treatment. Blood tests every few months will pick up possible side effects, usually before it's too late to suffer any permanent damage.

You may want to post this Q about your newly prescribed med in the medications forum, in hopes of getting more responses. Best wishes to you ~ and to PC!

Some psychiatrists only dispense medications and little else. There are some psychiatrists around who are qualified in a range of therapies and also write scripts for medications. Some people see a psychiatrist for meds and a therapist for counselling.

Take your time to find the right fit for your circumstances.

Finding the right psychiatrist isn't always easy, but if you're uncomfortable, I would keep trying to find a doctor that works for you, if possible. Especially since you're looking to take mood altering medications, you want to make sure you're taking the right ones for what moods, anxieties, etc. you're experiencing. I would also look into counseling as well, sometimes those docs can recommend good psychiatrists that can work with you.

Welcome Annalucky,

Just my opinion.....I don't think anxiety can be cured or even controlled with medication alone.. I have found talk therapy and learning all kinds of other self soothing tools much more effective.

I hope you find a solution(s) that help you.

Welcome to PC
