I just had a pdoc appt. She prescribed Klonopin on an as needed basis but I researched it and it says best when in continued in bloodstream.
How is it going to help as needed then?
Can anyone help me here?

It does help, and I us it "as needed". I've taken it when I am going to have one of those days/weeks,sort of helps stave off a a panic attack when trigger levels are heightened.
The Klonopin, my pdoc said take one twice a day, as needed.

I agree with darkeyes, it does help when taken "as needed".... I also believe it reduces the chances of "addiction". My shrink suggested taking temazepam (restoril) every other night rather than every night to reduce the likelihood of addiction (I don't really keep to that though Does anyone take Klonopin on an AS NEEDED Basis???)

Hey, fuzzster. I think you doctor is wrong about the addictive potential of Restoril. I can find literature demonstrating long-term efficacy without addiction. Seventeen years, such like. I, myself, am at around 8 years now. It was the difference between being completely non-responsive to meds, and getting my feet back on the ground, via restorative sleep.

Doctors don't know everything. I've got no problem with doctors being cautious, either. They just didn't ask us, the users, the right questions.

I used to take Klonopin as needed. It doesn't work as fast as Xanax -- you won't feel the effects as quickly, but it does work.

I take it on an "as needed" basis as well. I take mine for a different reason...nerve pain.

When I'm having a bad flare that even the pain meds don't help sufficiently, I take it to try to sleep.

they said I could also take it for anxiety due to pain on an as needed basis.

Bottom line, I take it maybe once a month/two months and it works like a dream for whichever reason I'm taking it.

I think it's a good drug when used right...like many meds.

Love,

KD
