I met with my pdoc this morning due to some problems I've been having since the change of meds. Well she took me off the rozerem and put me on trazadone because the other wasn't working. Do any of you take this? What kind of side effects should I expect?

I take it. I have had some heartburn which my dr believes may or may not be related. I take my dose at night and it helps me with sleep, imo. I switched to it from Dothiepin and I find I have fewer of the side effects, particularly the dry mouth.
Hope this helps.

I've taken trazodone off and on over the years for sleep. It works pretty well for that, sometimes too well, until you get adjusted to it -- the first little bit I was on it, if I had to get up in the middle of the night, I would end up banging into walls and stuff because I was so drowsy. But that went away fairly quickly.

This was the first med I tried, about 2 or 3 years ago. I didn't take it long because I threw up each and every time I took it. A friend of mine had the same experience. I think they prescribed it because I have always had insomnia problems, but it didn't help me sleep either. I hope it works better for you, or at least doesn't give you nasty side effects!

This med didn't work for me either, and was a near disaster. Guess it's another one of those either it works for you or doesn't meds?

Wow now I'm kind of scared to take this. I haven't filled it yet but plan to tomorrow so tomorrow night will be the first night I take it. I guess its a good thing that I don't have to be school until noon.

I also took this, but as with any medication, everyone is different. It did keep me too groggy. In fact, the next morning, I would be falling to sleep driving to work. I am a surgical assistant and found that my vision was more blurry and had more trouble concentrating. I took it for about three weeks, changing the doses around and was never able to adapt it to my life. Work is good therapy for me and I just couldn't get over the grogginess. If your Pdoc wants you to try it, I'd go with what she says. They know you best. We can only share our experiences with you which are as varied as the people sharing them. Good Luck and hang in there.

I've taken this for years now, for sleep. It did take a little while to get used to, but it works great. I've had zero problems after the first week or so...sure was nice to rest!

I start trazodone tonight at 25 mg for sleep. I hope I don't have really bad morning grogginess. I'm already fighting to stay awake every day as it is. Trazadone

Trazodone worked fabulously well for me the first time around and not at all the second.

I do have to say, I spent some time walking into walls the first little while I took it the first time!

I know this is probabably inapropriate but I just wanted to share an uplifting story about this drug.

I have a 10 year old golden retriever who has been diagnosted with terminal bone cancer. He was given 3 to 6 months to live. The doctor perscribed him tradazone and he is now on his 9th month and doing well. He is slowly having trouble getting around but because of this drug, he seems pain free, happy and he's living out the rest of his doggie days by enjoying every minute of it.

Just a story.

Well, after trying this for a week, I've come to the conclusion that it's just not for me. Anything below 100 mg doesn't help me sleep, 100 mg still doesn't help me sleep plus I get up in the morning really foggy headed.

St. John's Wort makes me sleepy and Valerian keeps me asleep and feeling refreshed and non-groggy the next morning, so I'm going to ditch the trazodone and the Celexa (since it's not helping much anyway, even at the maximum dosage) and give those two a try.

Even on Celexa, I still develop lows, but they seem to correlate with life stressors more often that hitting me out of nowhere. Since everything is going smoothly at the moment, now seems like a good time to tweak the meds. And, yes, I know my warning signs of worsening depression, so I'll jump right back on Rx meds ASAP if I feel them coming on.

I will call my psychiatrist and let her know first, though.

i took this for a while . . . it masked my sleep disorder (sleep apnea) which finally was diagnosed later . . .

trazadone helped me fall asleep when i was having a lot of anxiety about going to sleep (scared to be intimate with husband)

the drug knocked me out. i believe any sleep aide interferes with sleep cycle, prevents normal dream cycle which increases anxiety which then increases further need for drugs.

for me, it enhanced other psych meds that caused daytime drowsiness. be careful driving.

Trazodone worked nicely to put me to sleep when I took Prozac which gave me insomnia. My "normal" depression states involve too much sleeping and eating. I think I stopped trazodone when I read that it and prozac together potentially caused heart problems. I do know I had to take it at least 2 hours before I wanted to fall asleep, otherwise I was too groggy in the morning.
