I was on it for while, but it didn't seem to help. I suggest you call your pharmacist and see shat he/she says. Hope you feel less tired soon.

I was on Abilify previously and I was told to take it at bed time and to be honest I don't recall any sedatation effects on me personally.
Good luck!

I have been on 2 mg and it makes me tired as well. I was taking it in the am. I say was, because not sure I'll continue on it. I woke this am feeling like the devil himself. very very angry, anxious, tearful, and agitated. my doc took me off for 2 days, and then back on, then call fri am to report. if anger is still a side effect, then i am sure he will change. Good luck. Hope it works. It didnt I don't think for me.

I'm on abilify, I just started a week ago, I have a few small problems with it. The first day was so very bad, it felt like I hadn't sleep in weeks. And I've gone a couple of days without sleeping before. I thought at first it was because I was talking another med too closely with it... but no. I've learned it better to take at night around 7ish and with a full stomach. Overall, I'm not sure if it's helping me yet, or if I like it cause I do feel sleeping alot and bit off but I've had worst reactions to meds. SO... Oh, I'm on a high dose of 15.

I must be in the minority... I have found it very activating- to the point where I am debating staying on it. It does seem to helping the depression and racing thoughts- I am on 5mg- and the plan is to move me to 10mg in a couple of weeks.

Problem is I am experiencing severe insomnia and intermittent tremor, as well as some agitation off and on. These side effects are rough- but I mentally feel so much better and so much clearer! *Sigh* Not sure what to do...

Thoughts?

Aripiprazole/Abilify has different actions at different doses. I found it very activating too at first. I started at 2mg and took it in the morning so I could sleep. Between 6-8mg I was very agitated - dunno if that was akasthisia or a mixed episode as I'm now diagnosed bipolar 2. At about 10mg it switched to sedating so I moved it to bedtime. I was taken off it at 15mg (when I was diagnosed bp2).

If it's causing agitation, I'd ask pdoc to bring forward the med increase as it could reduce the agitation as it did for me.

All the best,

*Willow*
Thanks for this!

I don't take it anymore but was on it. It made me super tired too. My doctor said to take it at night not in the morning (which is what I do with mine now). That helped.
