I saw my pdoc today, and we're switching my meds. I'm starting Viibryd an Trazodone.
Anyone with experience with either of these meds? My pdoc said neither should cause weight gain which is good since I've been working hard at losing weight, and he said that the side effects from each generally aren't too bad either. What do you guys think? |

I'm on Viibryd. I don't really have any side effects, but it's not doing a whole hell of a lot for my anxiety either.

Have you been on it long?

I started it in January. Started with 10 MG, went up to 20 for several weeks. Did 30 for about a week and then went to 40. Started having panic attack issues at 40, so he backed me down to 20 MG again and added Buspar as I ramp back up.

Good luck with it!

I tried Trazadone to help me sleep (add on to Klonopin)...it didn't. But yes it should be weight neutral. I refuse to try anything that might cause weight gain. I figure I am depressed enough already, why add to it??
Anyway, hope the meds work for you! |

Yeah, after my experience with Zyprexa I am very leery of trying meds that are known for weight gain.

I am on both viibryd and trazodone (along with some other stuff)
The viibryd has helped some (i've been on it since it hit the pharmacy at pdoc's office), and trazodone I take with ambien cr to sleep. It's semi-helpful. I have taken it for 6.5 years or so. |

I used trazodone to sleep for a good while. I don't use it anymore but it was wonderful when I needed help to sleep! it did make me have more nightmares than usual, but it was worth it at the time to get the sleep.

The Trazodone made me so sick last night! I threw up which is something I rarely do. I also felt so ridiculously spacey too, and got a really stuffy nose. Not a good night. I'm gonna give it a few more nights and see how it goes because new meds usually give me side effects for 3 days then stop, if they will stop.
I'm going to wait a little bit and then eat and take the Viibryd and we'll see how that goes. |

I just started Trazodone two days ago as well. I only too 50 mg and my nose congested. Tonight I will try 1/2 a pill and see if I can still get the sleep without the nose issue. I also take melatonin and I think that is stronger for sleep for me maybe. But this does help with the RLS.

Melatonin can be good, but the problem with taking it on a regular basis is that it will mess up your body's natural amount of it in your body. You should really only take it if your body doesn't produce enough on its own.

I had been on Trazodone to help me sleep (side effect of various SSRI's I tried) and my only issue was that it made me groggy the next morning and didn't help enough with the sleep.

I think the reason that I got so sick the first night is that I didn't have enough food in my stomach. I've made a point of eating more about 20 minutes before I plan on taking my meds, and it's gone a lot better.
I took the Viibryd in the morning the other day, and I slept half the day, so last night, I switched to taking it at night. Seems like a much better idea. I'm a bit nauseous this morning, but nothing I can't handle. |

Okay...I had to take a nap...couldn't handle the tiredness or the nausea or the headache. Ugh. Hopefully these side effects go away soon.

This can't be healthy...I've eaten about the equivalent of 1 meal today. I tried. I really tried...but just couldn't eat more.

I can't do it. I took my meds over 24 hours ago, and I've been sick ever since. I'm taking my old meds tonight and calling my pdoc tomorrow.
