23, BPD, Depression, Anxiety

When I found a suspicious Lump which the doctor deemed possibly malignant I had an utter frickin meltdown and I was prescribed Sertraline.... SERTRALINE? -.-
It is a crock of crap.
The first 3 days I felt blissfully numb, and for someone with issues regulating emotions, this was rather awesome indeed. I could think clearly, I started working on my novel again and I was more responsive and fearless.
After a week it just. stopped. working.
It's been 6 weeks and I haven't felt the slightest change since that first week.
I think the adjustment period has ended and I have come to the conclusion they are a pile of suck.
Anyone find success on these things? Or should I move on the a different pill?

I personally LOVED Zoloft. Until I upped my dose and I went hypomanic. That wasn't so cool. Especially since I couldn't stop moving. My roommate called me the Energizer Bunny.

But if after 6 weeks you still aren't finding it to be any better, you should consider a few things. First, consider upping your dose. Second, consider trying something else. With these meds, it's basically trial and error. Some will be better than others.

Agreeing with above. I haven't used this med but today been prescribed it. But if you feel this way after six weeks I'd go back to your GP or whoever prescribed it and tell them.

Zoloft has worked for me, except I have to keep adjusting the dose every so often, and have found more success combining it with Welbutrin, except welbutrin gave me a seizure, so I don't know what I'm gonna do about that! Other than that welbutrin was really working so who knows?
Every single person is different on these meds. I'd tell your pdoc or doctor about it and see what they say.

I'm on Wellbutrin and Zoloft (as well as a mood stabilizer) for BP and have really felt stable for the last 3 months - the longest in a long while

I was on zoloft for 14 years! It worked great and as someone else mentioned at times it had to be upped but it worked well. It was a great run while it lasted, but than it stopped.

You did have a partial response to the medication and usually when this happens, they first try increasing the dose before switching to a different medication. Have you checked back with your doctor yet to let him/her know what response you've had? People are often started on a low dose, so it may be time to increase.

You wrote you had BPD. Is that bipolar disorder? If so, are you also taking a mood stabilizer?

Have you had any news on the suspicious lump? A biopsy? Best wishes for a good outcome with that.
