I thought Yea I get BC because I'm not having regular periods due to my Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Well I take the first couple of days worth and Bam I get a period...I think yea this is going to work. Well last week I got another period hard and heavy period. I called my doc and he says keep taking it your body will get used to it and normalize out. Well I'm still concerned because its not normal to have 2 periods in the same month. I'm not used to having a period to begin with and then to have 2. Well are any of you women out there on this and did you have the same problem when you started out on it?

I was on it for the same reason that you were, kinda, I wasn't having my regular periods. Excpet I was having mine all the time. My doc put me on it and it eventually regulated everything. It may take a few months or so to start working and get you back on schedule. That's just what I think. I think your doc is right.. Well I hope this has helped.

For a friend of mine it took four months for her body to regulate to the cycle of no period on the days of the pills that have one color and then have a period on the pills that are seven pills of the same color.

it took me two months to regulate to the pills cycling.

another friend was right on the cycle from the first day she took the pills.

Keep taking them eventually you will be on the cycle according to the pills its just that for some it happens right away and for others it takes some time.

My daughter's friend has the same problem. She's also on Yasmin with good results. It does take time to regulate. If you are concerned about the amount of flow you are having (like if you are saturated pads every couple of hours) be asked to be seen while it's happening. Or do what I did (I don't have that condition, but have had other reproductive conditions) just showed up at the gyno's, and let them "see" what was going on (in my case I was having extremely heavy bleeding due to endometriosis, and fibroids.

I'd say definitely give it some time, and if you have concerns at all you can call one of the nurses at your gyno's office.

Best of Luck, Lisa.

That sounds horrible jannie ... but it sounds like it may be worth persisting with?

Just off subject - Yasmin IMO is just fantastic. It's the closest contraceptive (well in NZ anyway) to natural progesterone which is why it works so well for so many people. Many of those who don't react well to standard contraceptives are able to take Yasmin.

I love that it doesn't affect my weight, skin, moods, and allows me to have a reasonably light time of it (definitely not heavy) and it also seems to be brief - two and a half to three days of normal girly stuff and maybe one day of dribble! No pain whatsoever.

Thanks guys. I saw him today for a different reason and we talked about it and he is convinced that my body is just saying wow what is that estrogen and will balance out. So I will keep taking it and hope for the best.
