Hello I am searching for suggestions to help me with my problem of impotence. I take geodon and it has ruined things for me. geodon was actually a replacement for invega which gave me problems. Now I am looking into abilify and basically hoping for something that can enhance my overall sex drive which is actually pretty non existant right now. Do you have any suggestions or bad personal experiences? Rightt now I am looking into abilify and would appreciate any input on this drug. Next week I see my pdoc so I hope things go down well.

Okay so I'm reading that abilify has negative sexual side effects .........so I don't know what to do or what else they might put me on they might refuse to change my meds so I'm stuck with impotence.

Good luck, as a female I can tell you I have problems with abilify but I'm not sure it would be the same for a guy. I think the problem is that all the antipsychotics decrease dopamine and therefore excitation but abilify is better than risperidone for me due to prolactin issues.

I'm a guy, I take 600mg of Seroquel IR. I have ZERO sexual dysfunction. I take Wellbutrin too, and I actually have an incredible sex drive. IMO, Seroquel IR does not cause sexual dysfunction. just my 2 cents. Maybe give it a try?

Yes I'm switching to seroquel because I remember there not being any .......well for the most part I didn't have erection problems but what happened was my penis shrunk and I was also experiencing delayed ejaculation but I have it much worse now when I was on invega and now geodon its made me impotent/ erectile dysfunction is a major problem along with the general functioning of the penis during erections I have all these weird incidences hitting me I don't even know if I will fully recover from the damage. I didn't have the presence of mind just to stay with seroquel > upp the dose to take care of the voices and now I'm like this I wish I fully recover with seroquel I think my blood chemistry is messed up and I don't know if I've experrienced nerve damage or what I can't tell. I don't know if I will be able to have proper sex and make love unless something drastically changes so hope this switch works.

Yes I buy what are called "generrics" from the internet companies its what I can afford and I have both cialis and viagra which helps me out but I don't think I will be able to perform properly for sex, it helps me somewhat but I still have problems, I think blood might be escaping from the penis; I don't know how serious my issue is I have the erections from the pills but I don't know about performing yet. I should have never gotten on these drugs that's where my downfall is, they do their damage but hopefully one day I will recover.

To the extent that sexual problems are caused by hyperprolactinemia Risperidone and
Invega are particularly a problem. Olanzapine doesnt cause this prolactin elevation problem
I believe and Abilify actually lowers Prolactin so it wont lower your testosterone as the offending drugs do. But then Olanzapine is implicated with high rates of causing insulin resistance diabetes while abilify has a problem with the percentage of tardive dyskinisea reports to the FDA by its users. There isnt a drug out there that is altogether safe but Invega may be a good bet yet if
you can find a way to keep your testosterone up using Clomid perhaps as it doesnt
have the side effects testosterone replacement therapies tend to involve

Havent yet tried the Clomid for increasing my low testosterone as Im having difficulty finding a doctor in Toronto Canada who is willing to prescribe it. That said I do want to share with anyone else going through a similar experience that I spent two months thinking I had gone completely impotent from taking Risperidone and then Invega only to find myself completely functional when I got intimate with a lady friend recently. The low testosterone caused by these antipsychotic medications simply means I need more of a stimulus to get erect. So dont think that a catastrophe is what you are faced with. There is even a cure I beleive with Clomid - if you can get your hands on it. Androxal will soon be available and that will make it easier to get Clomiphene citrate prescribed for men.

For those whose sexual problems (erectile dysfunction) is caused by a lowering of your testosterone levels by an antipsychotic it is best to fix the real problem rather than resort too quickly to Viagra as the list of risks and side effects for Viagra and other like it is scary.

In my limited experience, I think that initial administering of an anti depressant will cause reducing sexual drive but it automatically reversed within a short period.

Best of luck..

Anti depressants are a whole different kettle of fish when it comes to sexual dysfunction. Scary stuff if you look up something called Post SSRI sexual dysfunction. The effect of these drugs can last indefinitely

I am in a very similar situation to you. Geodon basically gave me ED and now I am taking Abilify. Been on it for 3 years and impotence gets worse, the truth for sure. I am not recommending Cialis but I will tell you that I've considered it. Although im only 21, the daily 5 mg or whatever it is may not be a bad option.

I finally got my hands on Clomid after I convinced a urologist in Toronto Canada to prescribe it. Clomid more than doubled my testosterone score in less than a month (came in at 17.8 at the three week mark), Im back to walking at a normal pace and am happy to report my erectile dysfunction problem appears to be behind me now.
