My doc prescribed me to take 6 pills a day. Prozac, Wellbutrin, and Buspar at 7am. Buspar again at 11am. Buspar again at 3pm. Ambien at 10pm. That is 6 pills a day.

I have Borderline Personality Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder and PTSD. Is this normal? Does anyone else take that many pills?

I think I am looking for reassurance and that I am not alone in this.

Thank you everyone! Hugs!

I take 5 psych meds
Sodium Valproate and Wellbutrin in the morning, and at night sodium Valproate, Zoloft and Seroquel. Meant to take Seroquel in the morning too, but it makes me too drowsy

Wow it just seems like over kill to me.
But I guess it depends on how many
dx's the person has. I have 2 psych dx's
and take 2 meds.

Take care

6 really isn't a heck of a lot if you compare what some people take.

psych meds yes , may be low but back up meds add up for other illnesses so adding benzos , fish oils , thyroid meds , colesterol ect ect soon add up, 6 PSYCH MEDS if all different is on the higher side,

I take buspar, klonopin, and cymbalta in the morning, buspar again at 3pm, then abilify, buspar, klonopin, and prazosin at night. Those are just my psych meds. Add in my medical meds and I take 16 different meds a day, some meds are more than once a day. Those don't include my PRNs either.
I have been diagnosed with MDD, BP NOS, Anorexia, PTSD, Anxiety/Panic Disorder and BPD.
You are definately not alone in taking that many pills. Think of them as life savers, without them you may not be here. At least that is how it is for me.

I take 6 meds a day, 2 are anti-depressants, one thyroid med, one migraine prevention, and 2 sleep.

My personal opinion, if it works, great! If you have to start medicating to treat side effects of other meds, then perhaps it's time to start thinking of other options (I used to be on a lot more meds, to the point that the meds almost killed me. I will think long and hard before I ever medicate the side effect of another medicAtion)

like you say medicating side effects i just dont get, you either put up with them , or cut down the dose, or get off the med , fair enough parasetamol for headache. but if the med is so bad it causes side effects that need another med to help the first, your just adding more side effects with another med.
Thanks for this!

I'm currently taking anywhere from 2-4 psych pills a day, but I've been up to 6 a day before. Depends on my needs at the time. I was once taking 4 different psych meds every day which seemed like quite a lot at the time, and I took multiples of a few of them. Crazy, but made me less crazy.
