I am on Saphris, started it nearly 1 3/4 years ago. I take 20 mg daily, right before bed. It helps, but be warned, the taste takes a little getting used to! I have been stable for awhile, also on 900 mg lithium daily so the combination of these two has kept me out of suicidal thoughts, hypomania (I'm bipolar II), and depression.
Thanks for this!

I just started saphris about two weeks ago. It has worked beautifully for me, but I'm only on 5mg a day. 20mg seems like a HUGE daily dose benzenering.

The taste is awful, although the dark cherry is a bit more tolerable than the plain. It seems to suppress my appetite at this point. I really have no appetite and forget to eat and have lost weight, but that may change/level out as I stay on it awhile. I do stay very dry-mouthed ALL the time. I'm also on lithium, but this has kicked my thirst/dry mouth to a different level.
Thanks for this!

I believe that 20 mg daily is the highest dose. I was in a very bad place when I was prescribed Saphris and lithium. I had tried antidepressants and they sent me through the roof. The only side effect I have with Saphris is an increase in fidgeting with my hands. It is worse when I'm nervous about something, like a doctor's appointment or a job interview. I believe this is the dreaded tardive dyskinesia. I just started taking something else to combat this, it is a never ending merry go round of meds!

I've been on saphris for about 2 months. It has GREATLY helped my more hypomanic/elevated mood as well as my anxiety and irritability. No side effects either which is huge! I'll put up with the bad taste. You really only have to put up with it for about ten minutes. Since I take it before bed, after ten minutes I brush my teeth and it's gone. Only thing is, it's MAD expensive if you don't have health insurance. $400 a month and I won't have insurance for a while so i'm desperately trying to find a way to get it cheaper in the meantime. hope others do well on it too
Thanks for this!

My husband is on it for schizophrenia and it has saved our marriage. The difference between him on Saphris and not is night and day. Plus it doesn't make him overly tired or lethargic like the Seroquel did. He takes a listerine breath strip before he takes it and says that helps the taste.

i took saphris for a year before we decided it wasn't helping me but I do think it is a good medicine for most. Except for the taste and it does come in 2 flavors regular and black cherry both take a while to get used to. never double dose use it as your doctor prescribes. Karrin ask me anytime.
