I had an abnormal liver enzyme test. Has anyone had experience with Effexor causing liver damage? I also take Metformin which is why I have these tests regularly, but in the past, before Effexor, they're been fine. Could Effexor alone or in combination with the Metformin be the cause?

All meds carry risk of organ damage long term , just like alcholol does. My kidneys dont fuction fully through self medicating with alcohol when younger , So yes it could be any med messing with liver function, its just 1 of the downers of having to take meds, crap without them and worse without them .

Well I dunno if effexor could cause actual liver damage, how long have you been taking them? Its none of the side affects that I know of though, and I take effexor everyday.

I've been taking Effexor since December. I want off Effexor. I'm tapering now, but due to bad withdrawal effects, I am going slowly. I'm having another test in five weeks. I probably won't be completely tapered off Effexor at that point so if it still shows up abnormal, I'll have to explain.

The abnormal result could be a temporary fluke or it could be something unrelated to medicine. It doesn't need to be the Effexor, but I've taken Metformin for years without anything abnormal, and I'm only 23 so there should be no long term damage yet. But yeah, due to insulin resistance, I'll be taking Metformin for the long haul. I'd rather deal with the risk than blood sugar issues.

Switch straight to lexapro , its a lot cleaner med and dont make you feel like your in a fog. But its 10 times the money of sertraline, i get it free on the NHS. THE TRAMADOL trip made me famouse with the nurses, plus i was skinny with pancreitis so my pork sword put on a larger apperance . i recieved fist rate treatment from my nurses, the even ask my to there rest room on fish and chip night at 10pm . which i thought was strange seeing i was in for pancreitis and had to aviod greasy food.
I think i had given them a great laugh with no damage done, I took it has a mistake and held no malice, the drug trip was scary but yanking the capitar out my willy was more, the balloned bit was still inflated
