I took it briefly, but didn't stay on it. I don't remember why. Actually, if you want the official report, then you can google Pristiq and find out the side effects. Maybe someone here will report on his/her experiences, too.

I just went on Prestiq Feb. 19th after 3 1/2 years on Zoloft. I was up to 200mg of Zoloft, now only taking 50mg Prestiq. What a difference, the zoloft tore up my stomach, if I wasn't constipated, I could knock a buzzard off a ####wagon at 100 paces, I complained about this from the begining. I am on state assitance, so it has been this is what we have take it or leave it. My new Pdc, what a differrence, he said know matter the cost he would see I got the meds I need. That is how I came to be on Prestiq. As for side effects I have no more stomach problems, the massive ringing in my ears is gone and I feel better than I ever did on the zoloft. I am also taking deplin 15mg. Going to see my doc today about cutting the Deplin in half as I think I might be a little to happy and emosional over good thing. I am a 59 year old man and it seems kind of funny when I start remembering good times I start crying only it is not sadness, it is glad and happy crying. I think it is the Deplin doing this. I also have ADD and it has put the H in it now and I have never been hyper before, so now I have insomnia, can't win for loosing. As for the Prestiq go for it, just remember with AD meds, what works for one person may not work for you. most people have to try two or three different ones till they get it right. You do have to give them a chance to build up in your system though unless you get an unbearable side effect. everyone deserves to be happy and you are no exception. Keep reading and learning. You somtimes have to be kind of assertive with your Pdoc and sometimes that don't work. Your body will tell you if it is good, bad, or indifferent. If you are able and you don't like your first pdoc keep looking till you do find one you like and are comfortable with, and get a Pschcotherapist I think mine has done about 2/3 of the work with the pdoc 1/3. Be Happy and God Bless You. Garry

I just recently changed health plans to be able to see a specialist that everyone says is the best. Now I find out they won't cover my Pristiq from my Psych doc. I was in the hospital, my brain was scambled and in general went through hell finding a new A-D that worked. I am now back and running on all cylinders and now this new insurance co want to screw with my mental health. I am pi$$ed, I figure I will just check into the pscyh ward every other week. Pristiq will seem cheap compaired to the hospital. Sorry for the rant, I just don't want to go through hell again. I still have holes in my memory from the last time I had to change ADs because they quit working. So change just to change because they don't want to pay is BS. Garry

Well I am thinking a little better today, I know the insurance guy I talked to on the phone didn't like hearing I was just going to go to the hospital every other week. Even my pharmasist says the same thing, after 2 or 3 hospital trips and stays they will cave. Meds are cheaper than hospital stay.

My dr put me on Prestiq for anxiety, along with the Wellbutrin I was already on. I immediately started gaining weight in spite of working out an hour a day and not increasing food. When I would miss a day of it, I would get the worst withdrawl symptoms - basically felt like you were in a fog, swimming in jello, everything in slow-mo, like a minor hangover, with brain zaps. Finally I realized that's what it was, and that, plus the weight gain made me taper off it - Got off it Sept 2011. But weight is still going up - not sure what's up there. But Prestiq is some mean stuff, IMO.

I have been on Pristiq 50mg ever since and it keeps me stable.I had to go threw withdraw one time from 100mg to 50mg.....was not nice but I hear all AD have weight gain and withdraw. I know Pristiq saved my life!I have major depression on top of a list of other things from a car accident.
