Hi all,
I'm looking for advice and/or stories of personal experiences in coming off of my medications to try and become pregnant. It will still be a little while before my doctor and I begin the process but I am admittedly anxious. I'm hoping that someone here has successfully attempted the same and can share their thoughts and suggestions. My medications are Paxil for anxiety, Adderall for ADD, and DDAVP Nasal Spray, because of a previous head injury. Thanks in advance for the replies! |

I tried, but I was unable to. I needed to find a relatively safe med instead. I'm bipolar II, so different meds worked for me. I know Paxil is a no-no (category D) but Prozac, Zoloft, and Celexa are also ssri's and they are considered safer.
My advice is to start several months ahead, so if you run into problems, you can try safer alternatives. Good luck! EJ P.s. My baby is 1 month old now and doing great! P.s. #2 Go very slow trying to get off Paxil. It is the only med I have had problems discontinuing (and I have tried many). It is known to be one of the hard ones to come off. Not good for trying to come off an anxiety med?
![]() I would try to build up alternatives, start taking various exercise/yoga classes for stress relief and to help with when you are pregnant, staying in shape. Get a meditation thing going? Do you have a therapist/counselor of any sort? I'd get one of those and maybe join a group of women newly pregnant or wanting to get pregnant, etc. to have additional support. All the stuff they say you should have to get ready for the baby? Get a duplicate set for yourself and this task ![]()
