Has anyone here tried Lexapro for anxiety/depression? How did it work for you? Did you have any major side affects? Was it enough or did you end up trying something different?
Thanks for this!

I took Lexapro for about 2 years, and it was absolutely great! I literally had no side effects ever, and it was very effective, but it ended up pooping out on me so I had to switch to something else.
Thanks for this!

sorry bob I haven't but I have a dear friend that does and he swears by it. I happen to take a AD called Viibryd and I like it quite well. It seems that anti depressants are sometimes a hard match for individuals, I was on a bunch before getting viibryd. I was on paxil for years probably from 2001 til 2011 i'd say then it just didn't have the effectiveness anymore and needed evaluated by a pdoc for more intensive treatment. Good Luck and I hope to see you some more in the forums and on chat if you venture there.

I swear by Lexapro. It's been, by far, the most effective AD I've ever been on. Good luck if you decide to try it.
Thanks for this!

lexapro is a good ssri, but it does have side effects like poor sex drive, weight gain and constipation, well it does on me anyway. But then again most other,s do.

I'm starting at 10mg for a month then we'll re-evaluate. I read that studies have not proven that 20mg is more effective than 10mg. The studies do show that both 10mg and 20mg doses are equally effective at relieving depression. Interesting...

I took it briefly, but found that it wasn't the right med for me. Yes, it helped with anxiety, but it was too numbing. I felt drugged all the time. It made me super dizzy, I had issues with sleep, and I found that it impaired my thinking. I tend to be very sensitive to medications, though. It's possible I would have done well on a smaller dose or different ssri. Since my GP was the prescriber, she basically gave me the standard dosage and expected it to work. I have a great pdoc now that understands that some people are more sensitive to doses and types of meds. I'm taking a very low dose of Xanax now, which has been amazing for me, with zero side effects.

That is very true , i didnt mention it because some members think i make things up. I dropped from 20 to 10mg without my doc and got the same depression cover with less side effects. Proving that in my case the 20mg was just extra side effects.. The drop to 10mg let me orgasm again and put a smile on the wife and my 50 girlfriends faces
Thanks for this!

taking lexapro for me, i had loads of side effects but that's just me because i'm sensitive to side effects. i'm on 20mg for like 2 months now and nope it's not working at all. :/ but i can't change due to certain reasons so here i am stuck on a med that doesn't work.

my pdoc is really hesitant to change it because i'll get really bad adverse side effects as i have from my previous meds and this is the one i've tolerated really well so...

also i'm still in a crisis mode and still recovering (been like this for months already) so i guess seeing it from her viewpoint having side effects would be detrimental..

Im suprised he put you on lexapro after celexa , there the same med with a few slight tweeks, ENGLISH mental hospital wont give you lexapro saying its the same med has celexa in a differnt box. i get mine for my GP. 10MG is no different to 20g to me , but every one is different.
