If you are nocturnal is there a way you can be? I'd go crazy if I had to sleep nights.

Rozerem is a good drug that is not habit forming. It is prescription only.
Here is a list of prescription and over the counter meds ---> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnotic

Yes, Rozerem was given to me (samples), but I never tried it since there was not a generic form at the time (I don't think there is now?) and I can't afford to pay non-generic. But I know it is "a hypnotic used to treat insomnia based on the OTC melatonin supplement" as I happened to look it up today.
I am an insomniac (at this point, nocturnal really) who takes a benzo to keep the nightmares away when I do sleep (usually 7 am to noonish, maybe...but sometimes not at all for a few days, who knows?? Fun!). Anyway, I refuse to take things like Ambian for the similar reasons you list...I know I will drive in my sleep because I love driving at night and half the reason I am so depressed lives 30 minutes from my house. I don't want to end up ringing his doorbell at 2:30 am and not knowing I am even there, how god awful. ![]() ![]() ![]() I wish you the best, I hope you can find the right combo for you. Just wanted you to know you are not the only miserable insomniac out there. ![]() |

good to know im not alone
ambien is not worth it cuase I could drive too I think about that and my apartment is full of venomous animals like black widows, tarantulas and scorpions,,.... im afraid I could play with them in my sleep and get stung or bit, that's why im not taking the chance ill ask my family doctor about sleeping meds but I think im just naturally nocturnal really im not sure if there is any pill that will help me id like to be able to sleep normal hours tho |

I take Ambien with Thorazine (small doses) and it works great. I have a high benzo tolerance so the thorazine helps sustain the sleep induced by the Ambien.
I did have in "incident" with Ambien that got me in a lot of trouble. I tried a number of other options, in fact almost all, still nothing worked like the Ambien. I went back to it and have had no other problems. If you don't like Ambien, the closest I got was with temazepam. Sorry, don't know the brand name. |

Don't know if they use propiomazine as a sleep med there. It is used here a lot! It's not for me but I know some people who like it.

My incident with Ambien was influenced by being highly triggered during an anniversary. I may have taken more than one, I don't remember anything.
I ended up writing an email that got me into a bunch of trouble. I don't remember writing or sending it. I was surprised to read it two days after when the other person was upset. But nothing like that has happened before and nothing since. Ambien is notorious for this kind of thing, but it surely isn't alone. Almost the whole class has this potential. |

Your sleep pattern has been nuked, you still sleep but at the wrong time. Tell your doc its his job to get it back.

You might have a sleep phase disorder from not sleeping on a regular schedule. That you sleep occasionally from 6 a.m. to Noon is good. But it might take a lot of work to get the time switched around so you are sleeping at night instead of during the day when you sleep.

You do not have insomnia as you are still sleeping a not unreasonable 6 continuous hours in a 24 hour period. You've just messed up your sleep cycle. Do some research on good sleep hygeine and don't expect an adjustment overnight. Also be aware that coming off some sleeping pills can cause insomnia so liase with your doctor |

Do you have a psychiatrist?! They'd be the ones to prescribe the sleeping pills to you. I personally, question, why general practitioners prescribe meds like these, at all. Does your job, require you to be up half the night? Hence, sleeping during the day and grocery shopping at 1AM? Trying to learn to sleep at night, and stay awake during the day, could be something to consider, to help whatever it is, going on with you. What does your doctor(s) say about your sleep schedule? |

Do you have a PDOC, already? It can sometimes, around where I am, take up to 3-4 months for a new patient to get in.
