PLUS SIDE, its can put you depression in remission and get you back to some sort of life. DOWN SIDE, makes you fat, tired, F**** with you sex life, maybe mess with your organs, But LEXAPRO is better than dead through depression .

I just took my first Lexapro last night. Slight side effects - a tight jaw, some mild shaking (like if I had bad nerves), mild nausea. Related or not, i woke up this morning downright giddy, and i found myself almost talking too much and rapidly (kind of like i am if i am "happy" drunk" lol. Its tapered off now, but i enjoyed it while it lasted, lol. So far so good!

It has been an easy drug for me. No real side effects or anything. I'm bipolar II, so I need to be on other meds with it, but it has been helpful, especially for anxiety.

Do you have a particular concern?

Well I have depression and anxiety and i don't want either to get worse. I also self harm so I don't want the medicine to make me want to do that more. hmm idk. I'm nervous about taking it and don't know if I should

I'd try it. I has been a good drug for many people that I know. It isn't considered particularly "heavy duty" but it can have great positive effects. If you don't like how you react, you can stop. Your MD seemed to think your symptoms were serious enough for medication.

Are you in therapy too?

EJ

Don't be scared of body an mind changes in the start up they will fade, if you fall at the first hurdle your giving it to depression . Meds give it a fight so embrace them don't fear them.

i'm taking lexapro... unfortunately my body is hypersensitive to the side effects so no matter what drug i try i'll get side effects.

people are different.. even though i'm taking lexapro it doesn't mean it works for me. (it has done NOTHING and pdoc insists i stay on it sigh) it may work for you. give it a try and see how it goes?

I started it on Thursday. I felt way, way better emotionally on Friday and Saturday. But then I thought, the drug doesn't work that quickly, it must just be me, making myself happy! So I didn't take it yesterday. Today? Back to the same old, same old. Needless to say I will be taking it again tonight.
Thanks for this!

I started on 10mg. It was too much. Whenever I took it I threw up. I dealt with it for 3 days. I called and it was reduced to half a tablet so 5mg and now I have had no problems at all.

PROS: Everything. Works like a charm, no side effects. (NOTE -- this is my own personal experience and I am not saying that goes for everyone).

CONS: Can poop out on you -- it did me.

Its brain zaps, NOT SNAPS. they can start when you detox a high dose of med, your switching to totally different working med wellbutrin, and not even had a side effect on lexapro yet.You have had no side effects from lexapro , this is not a game of switching meds because of things you read, lexapro calm,s your depression , wellbutrin livens you up and gives anxierty if depressed.confused:

I'm on 10 mg's and don't experience a delay in orgasm whatsoever. Sometimes it's over before I start! Just kidding, but you get the picture.

no 1 depends on how long you have been on the med, no 2 im 65 and take 10mg and have no erection problems , in fact i have to beat it with a stick but orgasm takes time but I do it manually with the help of the wife as a little body shop oil , in fact I like that bit best, so the wife is satisfied from intercourse for has long has she likes, and so am I with the double masturbation and a well oiling.

Please don't be frightened. Give it a try--your doctor prescribed it because they believe it can help you. It worked great for a sibling but it wasn't good for me. My only advice: keep an eye on your sugar and/or alcohol cravings. It made me want to drink alcohol (not really like me normally) a lot, and often.

Take care!
