Started Klonopin yesterday, pdoc did say I would feel groggy this morning but my body should get used to it in another day or 2 & I should be able to drive to my appnt in 2 days. Anybody able to confirm this?

Well, in my case I have been able to drive and be okay with Klonopin. I at one time, over a number of years, took .5 mg three times a day. (Now I take .25 in the am and .5 at night, since I am going off of it.)
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the reply, this gives me hope that I'll be able to adjust soon & be able to drive!

I take .5. In the beginning it made me a little drowsy but I was able to drive as long as I was aware of it, but be careful, I'm sure it's different for everyone.

She said I should be o.k. driving the next day when I just take the evening doses, but if I take it during the day, I shouldn't drive.

Like others said, it just takes a bit of adjustment! When I started, I was very sleepy, spacey, quiet. Now it does it's job by helping me obtain calm and does not make me as out of it as it used to. I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for this!

Me too! I still feel too groggy to drive & I can't depend on other people forever, especially getting to & from work - paradoxically, in a way it's adding to my anxiety!

Still having issues with the Klonopin, trying hard to stick it out because my pdoc says it should work for me. She says to take my time getting adjusted & don't worry whether or not I'll be able to drive to work on M

Whoops, posted before I was ready! Meant to say how realistic is it not to worry about whether or not I get to work if work is where I get the insurance to pay for these meds?

It might take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to this medication. Most people adjust pretty well. If you are not feeling okay about driving at the moment then dont. Wait until you feel more normal and hopefully you can car pool with other people for the moment.

I was not able to tolerate the spaciness on Klonopin or Ativan, and am now taking Xanax. At the lowest dose, klonopin did nothing for me, and at the next dose up, I was totally spacey and it was not something I was willing to tolerate. I tried it for a week, then called my pdoc and we agreed that it might be worth trying something else. Ativan was worse than the klonopin for me. I'm on a low dose of xanax now, and there's no spaciness, just less anxiety and tenseness.

So - talk to your pdoc. If the spaciness is not something you are willing to tolerate, see if she can adjust your dose or see if you can try something else.

I take 1 mg of Klonopin at bedtime and am supposed to be taking .5mg in the morning. I was too lazy to cut a few tabs in half and haven't been taking the .5mg for around a month or so. I have noticed that I have more energy and am not as tired during the day. I still take the 1mg at bedtime to help quiet my brain and make me sleepy, if I don't get at least 8hrs of sleep, I am still groggy in the morning; but not to the point that I can't drive. I make sure I get plenty of sleep and am usually pretty good. So as a suggestion, try getting at least 8 hrs of sleep and see if that helps with your morning grogginess. If you still don't feel "normal" in a few weeks, talk to your pdoc. Best wishes to you.
