Yea I'm taking Zyprexa now. Seroquel makes your body stiff and move when you don't move.

What you are describing are called extrapyramidal symptoms, and if you had them with seroquel you are likely to develop them with Zyprexa.

i found seroquel to be great the first time i tried it. it certainly took the edge off the anxiety and i slept better and felt calmer. i was pretty zonked for a week while my body adjusted. felt like things weren't real... in a dream... but i adjusted.

last time i tried it i was a lot more zonked in that first week though. slept through a firedrill so i made the decision not to continue.

it really did help me the first time i took it though

Hi there,
What dosage are we talking about here?

I find it difficult to discuss meds because not only do they affect people differently, but the dose also differs and this makes a HUGE difference when talking about side effects.

Anyone else care to weigh in on this?
Thanks,
Okie

i have been taking seroquel for about 2 months now. the first time i took it i woke up really groggy. however after that first time, i have not had any negative effects. i can function well during the day. you have to test which dose works for you. i found that i was more alert while on 100mg but my pdoc increased the dose to 200mg. it took me 2 days to get use to it. but i really like seroquel, it has help me so much.

I've been on seroquel for about 2 years now and it is my savior! The doctor perscribed it to me for sleep so I take a dose anywhere from 200mg-400mg before bed. I have noticed that it helps me greatly with the anxiety and irritibility that goes along with bipolar symptoms. Recent studies have backed that up. It took me WEEKS to get used to seroquel. I started at a dose of 25mg and that kicked my butt for a long while. It probably took me a good month to not betired or feel drugged during the day. I think with any medication it takes a long time to adjust to it. Good luck to everyone.

I've been taking Seroquel off and on for about five years now.
At 400mg a day, I was sleeping a lot, and falling asleep sitting up!
Plus, I gained 80 lbs. But, I was eating like a pig. Before seroquel, I was one of those people who could eat anything and never gain weight.

Now, I take 50mg at night, every night. It's a great medicine to use as a sleep aid. It doesn't give you that "marked drowsiness" kind of feeling, you just kind of feel naturally tired. At 50mg, that is.

That's all the side effects I can think of. Sleepiness, and weight gain. Seroquel is very expensive though, so keep that in mind if you might have to pay for it yourself later. I had to pay $200 once for 30 100mg tablets at walmart. That sucked.

I just started taking Seroquel for sleep. I started at 25mg and doc said take up to 100mg. At 25mg it didn't help me sleep, but it did make me feel hungover the next day until dinnertime. Not foggy, but headache, cottonmouth, sand in the eyes kind of hungover. I'm not sure it's worth it me to keep on with it. Unless the side effects are eventually going to go away. It's hard to experiment with the side effects of your drugs when you've got regular life to get up lead everyday. I need a vacation to see if I can get used to these side effects and find a dose that puts me to sleep without the hangover effect. Sigh....med adjustments...sigh

i've been taking seroquel for... maybe 9 mos. now? unsure. anyway, i sort of have a love-hate relationship with the drug. i take it for bipolar mania and psychotic symptoms, and it is definitely helpful in controlling the psychotic symptoms. however, i do think it intensifies symptoms during my depressive phases, and i cannot stand how it knocks me out! i am prescribed 300 mg. in the morning and 300 mg at night, and i must admit that i skip doses from time to time simply because i am worried i will sleep far too long and be unable to wake up when i need/want to. (my record for being asleep, seroquel assisted ;-), is 24 hours. straight. no interruptions).

it is good... and annoying. but ultimately worth it in my situation. i wish anyone taking it the best - and if you're newly prescribed, give it a try, it could work wonders for you :-)
