I am only on my 3rd bottle but it looks like it may be my last. Oddly, the Cymbalta is helping with my IBS issues but not so much with my PTSD issues. Still, I'd rather stay on it as the side-effects or ineffectiveness of other meds makes them poor choices. I am suffering sexual side-effects but that seems to be the norm with these types of meds. I have to call my P-doc and let him know the bad news. There is a possibility that the HMO will relent if he can persuade them. I may also call them myself.

Definitely have the doctor call. It can't hurt and may help.

My insurance covered me for 100 mg of a drug, but my doc had prescribed 200 mg. It would have been completely unaffordable to me, and I had already tried a bunch of things previously that didn't work, so I was really desperate. Pdoc had to petition the insurance company in writing 4 months in a row, but after that, they issued a letter saying they would cover it until 2015.

Sorry your HMO won't cover the Cymbalta. I know that's very frustrating. My insurance company would no longer pay for a drug that was really working for me.

As was said, all you can do is try to see if they will change their minds.
