Anyone take Topamax for BP1? Is it usually Rx'd adjunctive for Bipolar 1 or do some folks just take it alone?

The doc started me at 25mg a night. This is the ONLY BP med I am on. Should I start at a higher dose? I was given this at a walk in clinic not by a pdoc and I see a pdoc on the 20th of this month.

Ok, then I'm upping my dosage. I've had 25mg the past 2 nights. Tonight I'll take 25mg but then another 25mg in the morning making it 50mg a day.

I take topamax for migraine prevention, 75mg am and 50mg pm...so I am curious how it works for bipolar...I assume as a mood stabilizer? Because I have severe anxiety and MDD but maybe I don't take a high enough dose to help with depression, or am I misunderstanding it's use in helping someone who is bipolar? Thank you!
