Considering switching from lexapro to effexor - does anyone know about effexor - does it work? Lexapro doesn't seem to be working well...
scared to switch. Are there nasty side effects? effexor affects 2 neurotransmitters instead of 1 - does that mean there are more problems with it?

I was on Effexor for a few years and it worked great. I did experience some side effects (dizziness, brain-zaps, grouchiness) on-and-off for a few weeks as I tapered off when stopping it (not taking anything now) but everyone reacts differently.

I took Effexor for a couple of years...it was OK for depression, but not so good for the bipolar!

It can be hard to get off of, though.

I say go for it!

I've been on Effexor for years -- love it -- works great for me. Made me really hyper in the beginning, though, but that settled down pretty quick and now I take it at bedtime because it doesn't have any effect one way or the other on my alertness.

I've had the brain-zaps and they SUCK, but I got cold-turkeyed off of it while they tried emergently to find a cause for my physical illness. Once they let me back on it, I was and continue to be fine.

I tried effexor for just a month or so and I could not stand the way it made me feel . I was super irritable and I cried all the time. I was a total mess. The withdrwawl was also very bad and I weaned myself off very, very slowly.
