I notice when I take cold allergy medication it has the opposite effect on me, it does not cause drowsiness but it causes me to become somewhat hypo, causes me jumpyness especially stuff like, benadryl, sudafed, sinutab, dayquil, robitusin, ect... I was just wondering, can this be a bipolar 1 side effect thing or is it just me?

I've never been able to take allergy meds, etc. with a decongestant in them because I find it makes it impossible to sleep. I've learned to pick out the meds without the decongestant and I do much better. I'm not sure it is particularly a bipolar thing. I think some people are just sensitive to whatever the ingredient is that works as the decongestant. I know people who aren't in the least bipolar who have the same issue.

Allergy and cold medications make me hyper, and I don't have bipolar disorder. They are known to cause this in some people.
