Hi PC, not sure where to put this thread, thought it would fit best here.
For about a week now I've been experiencing muscle/nerve tension in my head, particularly in the rear portion. Monday and Tuesday mornings I woke up with a racing heart rate, numb face, increased anxiety, and muscle spasms. This led to a panic attack on the first occasion. After a useless visit to the doctor which left me feeling hopeless, I think I finally found the prob. I decided to see the dentist because I remembered that I had an infection/abscess (or cyst as it was found) growing on the roots of a tooth in my lower left jaw. I believe this was the source for the symptoms I was experiencing. I had the tooth pulled, and remember feeling relief from the symptoms almost instantly. I was prescribed 500mg of Flagyl antibiotic (Metronidazol), and a 500mg Lortab painkiller (Hydrocone/Acetaminophen). I took them together last night, and holy ****, I had the worst night ever. The muscle tension symptoms from before had returned, and I was experiencing tingling sensations all over my head. My eyes wanted to shut themselves and fall asleep, but a nerve in my head just wouldn't let me. This went on for about 8 hours until I eventually wore myself to sleep. I called the dentist in the morning, and he said the problem might have been the Lortab. He said I need to take the Flagyl, but I'm just way too scared of them at this point. Is it possible that the symptoms came from the antibiotics attacking the leftover bacteria from the pulled tooth? I have a strong feeling the tooth was the primary reason for why my mind has been acting so strange in the past year. Last edited by Double; Sep 13, 2013 at 06:37 PM. |

Glad that the tooth pain is gone! I know how painful that can be. (had an abscessed tooth in my upper jaw which pressed on a nerve in my sinuses...) I think your problems last night were due to the Lortabs, too. Although hydrocodone is a sedative, it can have the opposite reaction in some people. Like me. Hydrocodone makes me hyper. My doctor prescribed it to me when I had bronchitis to help reduce coughing so I could sleep. Well, that backfired big time! The hydrocodone did not sedate me but made me cough even more - all through the night. It was dreadful.
If you have an infection, you need to take antibiotics to get rid of it. There's no way around it. If stopping the Lortabs doesn't help, you could ask your dentist to prescribe a different antibiotic. I hope you get some sleep tonight. ![]() |

I have odd reactions to medications like that as well...for example, Nyquil causes me insomnia and makes me feel high long after it should leave my system and Dayquil puts me to sleep and makes me high.
Try going without the Lortabs and take some regular aleve or whatever your pain reliever of choice is. |

Talking of dental and depressive combined prob,s, I have no Wisdom teeth . They have all been pulled to ease neuralgia running from my brain to my gums, I had to have perfect teeth pulled to eliminate the problem a few years back now.

Just thought I'd leave an update on my condition. After many searches online, I recently found out that I am experiencing symptoms of a migraine, and am 100% sure of this.
Lortab and Metronidazol do not mix well with a migraine, at least for me it didn't. Damn, I still can't get over that tingling sensation I felt.. definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't even chew em, and I can still remember that awful taste. I probably should have ate something with em. Last edited by Double; Sep 18, 2013 at 12:27 AM. |
