I just had a few questions for any of you folks who have been on Celexa for a bit. I am 20mg for an iffy diagnosis of MDD-nos, adhd? I dont know he hasnt said.
I have been on Celexa for 30 days so far and so far so good. No Extreme dives into depression, or extreme euphoric moments (too bad I love them though theyre rare). I still have feelings just less extreme. Every once and while I think I am on the edge of a fall but havent done so so far. I still have a few days were i am a bit unstable but its less. I still feel very stressed just better able to handle it like I can put into the motion some more calming techniques. I wont lie I was a bit skeptical and I didnt want to take it but it has been helping. I've lost weight and the only really bad thing is i clench my jaw and I sometimes I get headaches. So I got just a few questions. I dont get to see my Skype Pdoc (its terrible I know) till November, He pretty much was like heres a 90 prescript have a nice life. I know that Celexa can cause QT prolongation, is this something I should be concerned about??? I've been taking magnesium and potassium to counteract the medication ( I already knew about it but My pdoc told me nothing about it, way to go pdoc). Any long term issues anyone has had?? And what to do about getting off of it when that time comes? Is there any good time to get off it? I just dont really like being on meds and I've heard the stories of those who stop taking celexa. |

Hey MD,
I was on this drug years ago, it didn't work for me personally in addressing my depression and anxiety...and I remember some pretty intense side effects from it (such as headaches, sleeplessness and dizziness that wouldn't go away). I think like all SSRI's everyone reacts to them differently. (The effect can vary and side effects can vary depending on the person). Honestly, MD, not sure on the long-term side-effects of this specific drug, doctors don't really mention that aspect (yeah, nice). I had to taper down off of this stuff with help from my GP and another class of anti-depressants, it went pretty smooth and painless when I went off of them. I know however, other people have had great success with Celexa. If the side effects don't go away, or you want to go off of them, talk to your pdoc. I hope you have success and it works out for you. Finding the right meds can be a total drag. ![]() |

I just started Celexa today, on a really small does and was also wondering how other people reacted to it. So far I'm just really really tired today. I know it will take time for it to really take effect, and I'm only on 10mg, I'm just nervous about it.

I've been on Celexa since 2007 and find it works well for me. I don't have any real side effects from it, but then I'm on a med's cocktail, so it's hard for me to pinpoint what med is causing what side effect sometimes.
From my understanding the prolonged Q-T interval, is only a rare issue at a high dose ie 60 mg. But I was on 60 mg up until this past spring, when my pdoc lowered it to 40 due to warnings about liver toxicity at the higher levels. But I have my liver enzymes checked regularly anyway and they're fine. Remember everyone reacts differently to each medication. splitimage |

Why you thinking about getting off CELEXA before you get started, think about getting better first
