I'm taking wellbutrin but I don't think this is a good medicine for me. I take it primarily for anxiety/mild mood swings. From thyroid issues I can't have meds that make me gain weight. I took Prozac for some time but felt that despite that my GP told me it's 'weight neutral' I still had a tendency to want to eat more. I have a friend with a similar experience so I guess it isn't just me.

Is there any other med anyone has taken here that has not led to any weight gain at all besides wellbutrin? I feel this med is giving me too intense of head aches. Thanks everyone. Just wanted opinions until I can reach my dr....

Wellbutrin is not for anxiety and mood swings, it could actually increase both as it does for me. I take it for depression. You need to take additional meds for anxiety and mood swings. Wellbutrin is great for depression, but it's not a SSRI, it's more like a stimulant and can increase your anxiety. I take xanax as needed for my anxiety.

Also the appetite suppression from Wellbutrin eventually wears off just like the difficulty in falling asleep. It's great for depression, nothing else.

btw, every other antidepressant out there will increase your appetite and make you sexually dysfunctional too. Some will even make you feel like a zombie as well.

I'm starting Wellbutrin today. I'm really hope it helps my depression. I was hoping it would be weight neutral as I don't need to gain any weight. But mainly I just want to feel good again. I already take Klonopin for anxiety so I'm okay there.

There are a lot of anti-anxiety drugs out there. Hope they find one for you that you are comfortable with.

I have body image issues and I refuse to take any medications that make me gain weight. The medication I responded the best to made me gain weight and I stopped it and will not consider taking it again even though the meds I've tried since have not worked as well as the former.

I tried Wellbutrin years ago and had to stop taking it because it caused hand tremors.

I'm currently on Lamictal and I just started Geodon. Both are supposedly weight neutral. I also was on Latuda for sometime because it was weight neutral as well. Is your Wellbutrin in place of an antidepressant or in addition to? I've responded well, weight-wise, to Pristiq (which I'm currently taking), Lexapro, and Effexor. But you also have to keep in mind that everyone has different reactions.
