I'm on a bunch of meds and I won't even attempt to try to distinguish the med that is responsible for this. But I have an incessently dry mouth. I try to drink a lot during the day but after literally 3 minutes of drinking, my mouth is dry again. By 6PM I can barely stand the taste in my mouth and I'm sure my breath smells so bad. I try to use mouthwash and brush my teeth as often as I can.
I'm willing to live with dry mouth because I'd rather deal with this than some other side effects (ie: weight gain). And the regimen I'm on seems to be working (or, rather, they're not making things worse). Do any of you experience dry mouth? Have you found any ways to cope with it? I'd love to her your suggestions! |

If you have teeth you need to be very careful. Even if you have a perfect oral hygiene, dry mouth will create the perfect ground for cavities. If you have very dry mouth you probably need to see the dentist at least 2 if not 3 times a year.

Theres a mouth spray that you can get from a pharmacist that lumbicates your mouth. I had a very dry mouth when I was on zyprexa. Best Wishes.

That's the only side effect I have had. Ugh.
Now that you brought it up, it did get better after I took my vitamin. Which has vitamin C. That might have had something to do with it. Not 100% positive, though.

I have terrible dry mouth and it has affected my teeth. There are mouth washes that are made specifically for dry mouth.

Also, make sure you tell your psychiatrist at every appointment. There's no reason you have to put up with dry mouth. Hang in there. BP is a very tough disease to live with. |
