My cocktail:
Lexapro 20 mg; Wellbutrin, 300 mgs; Clonazapam,

Lamictal, 200 mgs., Abilify 2 mgs.

All meds taken at bedtime except for Wellburtin.

I haven't taken Abilify long but have gained weight for some time, currently 50 pounds overweight. That is a big concern. What meds have you found weight gaining from the above meds if you've had experience with them? I would like to take weight neutral meds. I've also been extremely fatigue but my blood panel came out normal except I do have stage 2 kidney disease.

Secondly, my memory loss is concerning. When someone reminds me they've told me something, I can remember. I do a lot of disassociating as a coping mechanism I guess for my anxiety. What meds has anyone found that could possibly cause fatigue and memory loss also?

Thanks so much for your experiences. I am crying as I write this because while the meds help me for depression, anxiety and bipolar II, the above was pointed out to me kindly by a dear friend who knows me well and feels I'm overmedicated. Another friend gets angry because I don't remember what she's told me many times.

I take 200mg of lamictal and 900 of gabapentin and 150mg of vistaril. Lamictal is my mood stabilizer and the other 2 help with anxiety. I haven't had weight gain with them and maybe you could ask your doc?

Lexapro, Abilify are most likely responsible for the weight gain. I would blame the Clonazepam for the memory loss, along with the Abilify. Wellbutrin usually causes people to lose weight, when I was on Wellbutrin I was underweight and my doctor was also concerned. As others have stated some people get memory loss from Lamictal as well, but when I've taken antipsychotics (seroquel) or benzodiazepines (xanax) I noticed lots of memory loss and just not being as sharp as usual in general. Always misspelling words and not thinking clearly. Its certainly something you should talk to your doctor about. I noticed dissociation with benzos is also common. They are really hard to come off of, so be sure to talk to your doctor before trying to adjust anything on your own.

Every antidepressant I've taken has added to my weight gain. I'm just ravenously hungry.

All of the SSRI's I took (most of them) caused memory problems for me. I'm taking an SSNRI now (venlafaxine) and don't have as much of a with the memory issues.

Ok this is not helping my decision to try medication. I have been eating disordered and have body image issues. Can not gain weight! It will cause me to feel worse about myself. Yeah I know........being over weight is better than dead. Well that is some opinions.

For SSRI - prozac is weight neutral and some ppl lose weight
For an Anti-Psychotic - Geodon has stats of a 2lb weight loss
I've read that Abilify can be weight neutral, but it just depends on your brain chemistry. I gained about 60lbs over the past year on abilify and it is impossible to get the weight off so I quit taking it
I think Lamictal is also weight neutral

To be honest though, not all antidepressants work the same for everyone. What can cause weight gain on one person won't cause it on another. You just have to poke around and try them. If you notice side effects that aren't desirable, then try a different one.

All antidepressants are not created equal.

My memory has been horrible lately, and I'm on lamictal and klonopin. Not sure if those meds are the culprit, or if it's the anxiety/depression itself that's causing the memory loss.

Long term use of the benzos, such as klonopin (clonazapam) can really mess up your memory. It's a serious side effect.

I just asked both T's about trying medication. The one T I really like eased into him suggesting Lithium for me. REALLY! Why Lithium? That is a heavy duty drug......right?My other T said that Abilify ,at a low dose, will not cause weight gain.(I think he takes Abilify or his wife does)
