I have read the Ibuprofen can affect your Lithium levels and clearance but I'm wondering if this means long term usage.

I circuit train 5 days a week and every now and then I need to take something for muscular pain. So I'm talking 2 X 200 mg maybe 2 or 3 times a day for one or two days.

ATM I have had to stop taking them which leaves me with the only option of taking Solpadeine ( 30 mg Codeine 500mg Paracetamol ) which I don't particularly want to do too often as I do get high on codeine and there is definitely a potential for addiction there.

So just curious if any other Lithium users can shed light on the whole Lithium and Ibuprofen thing for me.

Thanks

When my husband's kidneys failed last summer due to lithium toxicity, one of the first things they asked was if he had been taking ibuprofen regularly while on lithium. The two don't play well together. (He hadn't been; the cause was something else, but apparently there is a strong correlation.)

The doc that wanted me on lithium said that naproxen and ibuprofen are two that I absolutely could not take. She said to replace with tylenol/paracetamol. So I opted out on the treatment.
