Lamictal dosage

I started lamictal about a month ago. I started on 25mg for a week, 50mg the next week, 75mg for the 3rd week, on the forth week I started 100mg. I have been on 100mg for a week and I still don't feel any different. I actually feel a bit worse. I have been a little down most days. I didn't leave the house at all yesterday. I have no desire to go anywhere or do anything. My next appt is friday. At what dose does it kick in?

My Pdoc has me at 200mg. After starting at 25mg. I'm feeling better, not perfect but better

I was going to ask for this in case my pdoc suggest lithium. I hated lithium. The constant blood work, weight gain did not seem to be worth it as there was no significant improvement and I was on it for almost a year. I will be watching this thread.

It took about a six weeks for the lamictal to kick in at 100mg. I'm now at 200mg and I haven't had a severe episode since then. Lamictal has made me more functional and is a life saver

I'm at 200 mg lamictal and I think all it did was help me come down from hypomania. Now I'm in a bad depression. Good luck with it.

I once went up to 400 mg and that didn't help much but I was on an SSRI too. 200 mg and no SSRI, was much better. Are you taking anything with the Lamictal?

I'm on limictal right now 200 mg and my mood switches CONSTANTLY! Not so much manic but I'll be super depressed then all of a sudden I'll be fine. Then out of nowhere again I'll be depressed. So frustrating... although I'm sure most of you know how this goes. Anyway I wish you luck!

Ive been on 100mg lamictal for about a month seems to be really helping.

As you can see, the dosage varies by person and, not so much mentioned here, by what other drugs you take. I have bipolar II and have always taken it with another mood stabilizer and occasionally an SSRI. I've taken the drug for 10 years--the maximum dosage was 200 mg and now I'm taking 125 in concert with Lithium and a small dosage of Trileptal (the latter for anxiety). It works well for me, but I do remember some difficulties at the beginning.

I take 225 mg of Lamictal. Doc gradually moved me up from 50 mg.

Sorry to hear! From my experience Lamictal only has antidepressant effects at 600mg. I love Lexapro and Welburtrin along with Lamictal at 600mg for MDD. Welbutrin activates me and suppresses my appetite as well. For me it's all about finding the right dose and the proper med cocktail, which takes time to find and and then needs alterating every so often. Best of luck!!
