I only took it for a week because I couldn't afford to see if the side effects would wane. I didn't eat for 5 days, couldn't even force myself to, caught myself having paranoid delusional thoughts, and increase in anxiety. I'm really sensitive to anything chemical though.

On the other hand, it's my favorite antidepressant, and I have not had those problems with it.

The only thing I don't like about it is every now and then I get constipation. Other then that I like it because it's a great med to use with a SSRI. I'm on wellbutrin and zolft and couldn't be happier! It does NOTHING for anxiety, so if that's a concern don't expect wellbutrin to do any thing for your anxiety and yes it can increase the anxiety. It curves my apetite which is ok with me, so does zoloft, both give me more energy. And I prolly should not be on both but oh well, that's the way I like it

Best antidepressant I was ever on.

Few if any side effects that I recall, and I actually felt a positive change in my mood for the first time.

None of the other antidepressants I ever took were effective.

Even better is when I came off of it ... There were no discontinuation symptoms whatsoever!

If I ever have to go back on any antidepressant, this is the one I'll ask for.

Thanks for this!

I love it! I prefer Wellbutrin SR/Aplenzin over Wellburtin IR, or XL! It's great for depression Seasonal Affective Disorder, can be used in conjunction with an SSRI, or SNRI, causes no sexual side effects, helps reduce weight and increases energy! Best of luck!!

Killed my libido and gave me anhedonia (food, beer stopped tasting good). Had some irritablility and increased anger with violent thoughts. Kind of a roller coaster ride at times with mood. Also had some painful and slowed urination especially in the morning. I dropped back down to 150mg along with adding 50mg zoloft for the past 2 weeks and think se's are beginning to abate. But mood has been in the dumps so far.
Thanks for this!

Interesting, as wellbutrin is supposed to be one of the meds that have the least amt of effect on libido. Obvs, meds effect everyone differently though. I get the food tasting not as good, it is also supposed to curb appetite, so that kind of makes sense.

Anyhow, I appreciate you sharing your experience.

Yeah, go figure. Some people even experience hyper libido. A big selling point with me was the lack of side effects. Staying on it for now at lowered dose in hopes se's will subside and it will keep me from gaining weight on the zoloft.
Thanks for this!

It has been the most effective antidepressant, to date for my bipolar disorder. I don't really have side effects, except the numbness you feel sometimes, where you want to cry, but you can't. Prior to this, Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil.

Honestly, my MD said I have had a breakthrough with this medication, been on it for 6 plus years, 75 mg., 2 days, 38 mg. every third day. Good luck.
Thanks for this!

It is interesting how this med is a love or hate. I agree there are no withdrawal issues with it and it can make you irritable at times and even increase your anxiety. The libido thing for me was increased! Curved appetite, only sides not crazy about, constipation once in awhile and a little harder to fall asleep for the first two weeks. I requested the Zoloft for my anxiety. The two together produces best results, no zombie. However my primary doc is very concerned with me taking Zoloft along with Wellbutrin. He worries it may set of mania in me, but so far 4 months it has not, but does make me feel really good sometimes.

For me, Welly has been used as an add on to mitigate the effects of other drugs. The only time I really notice Wellbutrin is when I discontinue it. That leaves me in a bad state.

I did not react well to that one...caused weird visual distortions and movement, effected my coordination, and generally made me feel really weird. It reminded me of the time I stupidly took adderall for 5 days and didn't sleep for those 5 days but I wont go too much into that story.

IMHO, the well-off combo is a strong combination for any one bipolar. Seriously, it's the Zoloft in combination with the wellbutrin that causes concern with pdocs. Wellbutrin without Zoloft not so much. I will be totally honest, I like it because it produces a sense of well being slightly above baseline. I find baseline boring and depressing. But the really great thing about Wellbutrin is you can stop it cold turkey! No weeding off is needed! By itself it's pretty safe!
