will smoking either cannabis or cigs cause you to have negative side effects? i read somewhere that welbutrin blocks the nicotine in your brain so you dont actually use any of the nicotine..? does it effect the thc receptors when smoking canabis? if this is true why am i still smoking cigs? i want to quit tobacco but i think its like a nervous tick, i have cut back on both but figured i wouldnt force my self to quit completely yet since im going through so much currently... any thoughts? i would like to drop the cigs completely some day, when i know what in the world is goin know what i mean? currently i've been taking welbutrin for a few months now (not sure how long right off but more than a few) and really havent noticed any improvement in my mood or energy, im still depressed - maybe even more depressed and anxious than i was before ; does welbutrin cause mild jerky movements as well?

Wellbutrin SR/Zyban can be taken up to 450mg daily. At that dose you should have relief from depression and have some energy. Yes, it can cause mild jitters. My guess is the Lithium is causing fatigue and cravings! I'd double ck with a pharmacist! Best of luck!

When I was on Wellbutrin, I thought cigarettes suddenly tasted very badly. Which motivated me to try to quit. I used that and the patch and haven't smoked since June 27, 1999.

i do want to quit smoking eventually i just feel that its one of my crutches and dont want to paralyze myself by taking away everything at once (drinking, smoking, other drugs) i've sobered up quite a bit so im proud of that much atleast

im also not taking the lithium because i didnt experience any change during the couple months i took it (besides having to have my blood taken and having elevated TSH levels)

currently all im taking is the 150mg bupropion 1 in the morning and 1 in the noon and 10mg of buspar 3x daily (6am, 12pm, 6pm)

i was thinking that i might just need to increase the welbutrin but i was also thinking that if i havent experienced ANY improvements from taking the 300mg a day and maybe even a worsening of symptoms maybe welbutrin isnt for me? makes me kind of sad because so many people seem to of had good luck with it when they didnt have goodluck with ssri's or others

i do experience a strange taste from the cigs every now and then but its a taste that doesnt bother me so much because cigs dont taste that great sometimes anyway? the smell seems to bother me more than the taste..

im going to talk to the dr about this medicine and see if he thinks i should increase or change meds, hope for an improvement this time

I don't smoke but I used to crave a good beer every now and then. Since being on wb, I get no enjoyment from it. I also have zero sex drive, but it's not so bad since I am single and not dating.

i feel like the welbutrin has caused me to desire drinking less as well, i was joking with myself about it a week or so ago but i think that its true.
i used to drink every day but now i dont drink at all, if i do its normally 1 -2 beers and even then i dont feel like drinking really - very strange feeling.. first new years sober since i was 12 years old i think... i wonder why i still dont feel any better after making so many drastic life style changes some times i think the welbutrin is only making me feel like i dont want to drink / do things that make me feel better, i wonder how many times i have to tell my dr/nurse that i dont like the medicine and dont think that its helping before they believe me? i think they just arent listening because i smoke weed..

Same here. I was a "hop head", if you know what I mean. I loved beers like IPA's. On wb any beer I drink is like... meh. Since adding zoloft I've been a lot more depressed. So my enjoyment of a lot of other things has decreased too. Today I decided to up the zoloft a bit. I've seen reports of wb helping people right away and others not for a few months, but my experience is that docs don't really wait around any longer than necessary to make a change if a patient tells them things aren't right.

yeah i can understand the 'hop head' part, i wasnt so much as an alcoholic as i just like drinking :O i liked to mix it up, try new beers, etc etc.. but now it kinda sucks, trying to drink 1 beer feels like a chore and takes for ever to down it.. im hoping that you're right bout the doc not waiting around cause its been long enough for me to tell that it hasnt done anything for me... maybe made my anxiety worse but thats hard to tell since i have such high anxiety anyway , but the point is i dont feel better and probably feel worse - the buspar is on my hitlist too, weirdest pill... only thing it does is give me headaches (and i used to rarely get them even being an extreme multitasker?)
